If you randomly choose one American man and one American woman...
then what's the probability that the man is taller than the woman? What's the probability that the man earns more than the woman?

Now, if you randomly choose two American men and they don't happen to be exactly the same height, what's the probability that the taller man earns more than the shorter man?

5. 1976 & 1972
1976 - Jimmy Carter (5'9") defeated Gerald Ford (6')
1972 - Richard Nixon (5'11") defeated George McGovern (6'1")

Other than those 2 examples, and 2004, though - it holds for the entire TV era. Now, how tall is Barack Obama again?

9. There wasn't a visible diffference between Nixon and McGovern, and they didn't debate...
anyway.

Bush clearly wore lifts when he debated Gore. Probably the same for Kerry.

6. Actual tallness is somewhat irrelevant in the tv age
Edited on Sun May-18-08 04:52 PM by wuushew
Tom Cruise has made a lot of money despite being short.

Also nobody can tell true height in say Lord of the Rings. Camera trickery effectively gave the false impression that many of the actors had the stature of hobbits.

McCain's profile is that of a hunchback so who knows how tall he is.

7. yeah, but what about the debates?
According to the information I have, McLame is 5'7", while Obama is 6'2" (I just looked it up after my question above). A seven inch difference will become very apparent when they're standing next to each other at the debate.

Of course, it's truly pathetic that this matters, but in the TV age, it does.

14. Please do not hesitate to discuss how you might approach
the problem of trying to get reliable answers to the questions posed in the Original Post of this thread. You don't need to give an answer that is a result of a long, hidden process of thought, research, and analysis.
