Funny comment made towards Global Warming deniers on an AOL story...
jewelbox926 08:43:10 PM May 18 2008

The ignorance on this board is astounding. Then again, maybe it's because most of these comments were composed by the 52 million "illiterati" who helped Ernest T. Bass become President. Not once. But TWICE.

If YOU are one of those people, you've forfeited your right to air your opinion on anything for the next eight years.

As Barney would say, "Nip it in the bud."

3. I am not quite that pathetic
Almost but not quite. I get AOL (Dial-up, old school) and they have news stories pop up whenever I sign in. That was the first one so I checked it out.

But I will accept that and raise you one more:

2. I tried to post a comment on that and it would not let me..
Here is what I was trying to post:

Looks like their are a lot of people here that do not know jack about climate change.
If you think you can dump our crap into the air and water, then not expect a reaction, your a home schooled moron.

Your body, is an ecosystem, It requires things in order to function properly, it also has a defense system that keeps you from getting ill from certain invaders. Like the environment, it also has a defense system and will react when over whelmed.

You can not dump a bunch of C02 into the air and not expect a reaction. You can not dump crap into the water and not expect a reaction. If you do these things and do not expect a reaction, your an idiot. If you think you can dump crap into the environment without consequence, drink a teaspoon of bleach everyday and see if your body does not react.

The consensus is still on the side, based on the conclusive evidence, that the planets climate is in fact changing. Is there a history of natural climate change? Yes. Did any of it have to do with something else that was happening on the planet; say Volcanic eruptions? Yes. So, by contributing more C02 into the environment we are in fact helping climate change along.

What does it mean, Global Warming? Global Warming is a greenhouse effect caused by C02, extra C02, that we are dumping into the air from our industries. As the planets temp. rises, more of the polar ice caps will melt, causing more fresh water to be dumped into the ocean. To much fresh water dumped into the ocean will cause the oceanic conveyor belt to stop, the system that brings warm water from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere and since fresh water is heavier than warm water it sinks to the bottom; it is then sent south and returned north. IF, to much fresh water is dumped into this system, because the polar ice caps have been reduced due to to much C02 in the atmosphere which cause the temp. to rise, that conveyor system will STOP. When that conveyor belt system stops, it will lead us into an Ice Age! Get it?

4. good response
Yeah I thought about a comment, but it's not worth it, I get pissed and want to get into a battle or something, lol. I limit myself to DU and an occasional comment at Huff Post or youtube. I once was kicked off of Huff Post for several months because some RWer was calling Liberals wimps etc, and I didn't take too kindly to it. In my defense, he deserved to be punked out and called out for a fight, lol.

I don't get how people think that you can indiscriminately pollute and there will be no repercussions? It's insane.

10. Because not only are they uneducated....
they take everything for granted. That some how, with some 'magic', it will all remain the same...FOREVER. Extreme naivete to say the least.

5. Was that the story about the scientist who says global warming will not
cause more hurricanes?

6. I guess??
But most climate scientists have never claimed that global warming will cause more hurricanes. Their claim has been as the Atlantic and Gulf waters warm, hurricanes that do form will become more severe.

I've been of the opinion (for what it is worth) that Florida will see fewer hurricanes on its Atlantic Coast due to the shifts in upper atmosphere wind patterns, but those storms that make it into the Caribbean or the Gulf will strengthen.

8. Very misleading title.
The scientist doesn't change his views on Global Warming, only on the ways that Global Warming affects hurricanes.
