Chicago company recalls meat for E. coli concerns
"CHICAGO (AP) — Federal officials say a Chicago-based company is recalling beef products distributed in 11 states, including Illinois, because of possible E. coli contamination.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Saturday that no illnesses have reported from the meat, produced by JSM Meat Holdings Co. The agency was uncertain how much meat is being recalled.

The meat being recalled is used in ground beef products. Included are 30-pound and 60-pound boxes and 47-gallon barrels of "MORREALE MEAT" beef products. The products have the number "ET. 6872" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

<snip>

The states affected are Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin."

1. ok, so maybe most likely I've already eaten it? I bought some last week.
That was the first time in months.... I bought some to add to my spaghetti sauce as a treat for the little one. Every once in a while I'll add meat. Most of the time its entirely supplemented with veggies.. man I hope I didn't buy any of that meat.. I'd have no way of checking it now.. and there are 2 more batches in the freezer from the pot of sauce that I had made. I didn't get sick, and he didn't get sick... so, hopefully we are A-OK.

2. Sounds like you're gonna roll the dice on those other 2 batches?
Be careful. Sometimes it's better safe than sorry. :patriot:

A little scientific info. Our bodies do have bad things like E. Coli inside of us. They're just at low enough levels to not have any really noticeable adverse effects. Therefore, not getting sick from a first batch isn't necessarily an indication that the food is safe. It's possible that you are below whatever threshold is needed to become sick.
