After watching three hours of CNN yesterday...
...and seeing lots of interviews, including several with Republicans, it seems all the blabbering of the Republicans could be summed up into two statements:

"America is above other countries" and "Communism doesn't work."

:boring: Can they ever come up with anything new?

On a side note: It really seems like they are struggling now to make it seem like the Bush administrations failures are due to incompetence rather than bad intent. They seem to be in damage control mode. Maybe that is a good thing.

1. A couple of years ago I heard Hannity published a book
with a title like, "The death of Liberalism."

I would like to think we are seeing the death of the mental disorder of conservatism, or at least, of neoconism. I'd also like to see a Youtube someday of someone confronting Hannity about how his book was all wrong and watch him blow a gasket.

2. What Can They Say?
Edited on Mon May-19-08 05:20 AM by KharmaTrain
Everything these goons have stood for have been imploded over the past 7 years. Fiscally responsible? With defecits and $4 a gallong gas? Try to sell that one. "Keeping us safe?"...with a quagmire that we shouldn't have gotten into in the first place...while bin Laden still parties? Morality? Calling Vito Fosella, Mark Foley, Larry Craig and David Vitter. Law and Order? We don't even want to go there. The failures of their corrupt and inept party are all around us. So how do you put lipstick on this pig?

The worm is starting to turn simply cause repugnicans don't stand FOR anything...just against. They have no plans or vision or anything to offer voters this year other than "more of the same" and "we're better than the other guy". They're stuck trying to milk the last miles out of old memes that become more passe every day. They're also fighting the last war, the last election and the last millenium. So what's the upside?

It's gotta be tough being a GOOP spinner these days...running from rather than for things...

4. I've been pondering how to encapsulate this meme.
The reknucklians are full of stupid old and tired ideas - the same ones they have been trotting out since Reagan, and their candidate, fittingly, is also an old stupid and tired Reagan era relic. There has to be a way to express this in some clever tip-of-the-tongue phrase that avoids directly calling McCain tired old and stupid while pinning the tired old stupid meme on him and his tired old and stupid party.

We need a 'where's the beef' that sums this all up in one unassailable phrase.

6. the rightwing has to be crushed...the French Revolution needs to be restarted
maybe the USA would be the best place to try it. The 'USSR' has to be brought back, somehow. All this, of course, must be accomplished through liberal democracy; life isn't worth living if there's no freedom, and the vote is its, freedom's, measure. And part of the problem with freedom is certain elements exploit freedom to commit crimes. Civil and political. That means mass media can't exploit either type crime to provoke police statism! But at same time, criminals must be dissuaded... and serial killers have to be hunted down like rabid mutts, but no racial profiling (iow blond males can't be targetted) which handcuffs the forces of lawn order...
It's something the ancients knew very well: we (humanity) can do anything we want, but what do we really want to do?
