Bush plans active campaign role for GOP

White House says Bush plans active campaign role for GOP, sidesteps question on helping McCain

President Bush will help Republican John McCain raise money later this month in Arizona. Beyond that, the White House isn't saying how much the two will campaign together.

The White House on Monday sidestepped a question about how much Bush will campaign with McCain but said the president would actively hit the trail in support of Republican candidates despite his low approval ratings and questions about whether his presence would help or hurt the likely GOP nominee.

"The president believes very strongly that, if we get out and take our message to voters, that we can be successful," said White House spokesman Scott Stanzel.

Bush, who has not been with McCain since a Rose Garden event on March 5, will appear with the Arizona senator at a fundraiser May 27 in Phoenix.

Asked at the daily White House news briefing whether one could expect to see a lot of Bush and McCain together, Stanzel said: "I think you'll see the president out on the campaign trail quite a bit. We'll keep you posted on their events that they may have together."

10. But people DO like him. Can't you see?
DETROIT, MICH. (Spurious News Network) -- Upset over a Democratic Party official's comment that no one likes President Bush, the Republican Party spent over a million dollars last week to poll ten thousand Americans scattered across this great land of ours as to whether they like President Bush. And contrary to what the traitorous Democrats have to say, all Americans like President Bush.

"It's amazing," the chief pollster commented. "All the people we asked said they liked President Bush. I've never seen anything like it."

A SNN analysis of the raw data indicates that, indeed, Americans do like President Bush. Thirty-nine percent would like him to resign, twenty-seven percent would like him to turn himself in to the International Criminal Court, fourteen percent would like him to flee the country, six percent would like him thrown in Leavenworth for the rest of his life, six percent would like him to be sent to Gitmo, six percent would like him to commit seppuku and two percent would like him to drive off a cliff in a car with the back seat full of half-full gas cans.

When given the results of this survey, the president was very happy. "See? I told you everyone liked me!"

White House staffers were unavailable for comment as they're still scouring the president's quarters in search of crack pipes.
