Poll question: do you think there is any chance at all that the Bushies will attempt the "unthinkable"
Edited on Tue May-20-08 02:41 AM by Syrinx
I don't really consider it likely, but it does seem to be within the realm of possibility, given what we know that these people are capable of, thus I vote "yes."

2. Their kind takes a long term view of things.
They know that 2008 is almost a total loss.

So they need to make darn sure that they've really screwed things up so they can blame it all on the Democratic president when they run a more viable candidate in 2012.

And $5.00 says they come up with a way to try and shove Jeb down our throat in 2012.

10. Agreed.
They cannot wait for a dem to take office. The GOP-controlled media has orders to wait until after the inauguration to start telling people the news they should have been saying all along.

Kinda like how the hostages were held until after Old Man Ronnie took office.

The GOP are masters at the well-timed catastrophe.

11. This.
I have insisted all along that the repugs are trying to throw the general election, for all the reasons you cite.

13. One more thing...
...the next Bush GOP candidate will have to be installed in 2016, not 2012.

I explained this in the footnote to the truthiness page for Pee Bush:
George Prescott Bush is a genetically manufactured Republican, designed for the 2020 Presidential election (The timing of which, by the way, has nothing--nothing--to do with the president holding office in that year will be able to cover up the papers of whoever was president 12 years earlier. Nothing to do with that whatsoever. Because, technically, Dubya will be out of office in 2008, 12 years after that will be 2020 and if Pee runs in 2016, the only way he could stay in office to cover for his uncle is if there was some kind of war in the years preceding 2020, which the president in 2016 would never, could never have anything to do with.)

I've feared it, but what I really think might happen is that the Bush administration's October Surprise will be to at last 'catch' Bin Laden. That would help McCain more than anything else they could do.

12. Not unless we diffuse it before hand.
We can do that in several ways:

1. mock them for not having caught him yet.

2. assume he has already been caught and any announcement is simply anti-climactic.

3a. refer to Bin Laden as "the late Osama bin Laden" since we already know he's dead.

3b. refer to Bin Laden as "Osama bin Laden, whose capture will be announced October, 2008" (that one is kinda long, but you get the idea)

Any time a GOP sheep mentions bin Laden, correct them by saying, don't you mean the late bin Laden? Or finish their comment about bin Laden with, "whose capture will be announced October, 2008"

Every single time.

And if they complain, mock them for him having more freedom than the average American.

Another thing you can do is try to insert him into every conversation, like when they talk about gas prices, say something like, "how much is bin Laden making off the gas prices, oh wait, he's dead."

There's lots of ways to do this, these are just my ideas.

4. they've already done the unthinkable...Iraq, Katrina, 2000 theft, 2006 theft,
and many of them have been indoctrinated by those who either enabled or sympathized with what had been previously thought unthinkable...the Nazi agenda of eugenics and the resultant genocide of millions of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals and political "enemies" such as subversives and pacifist religious groups who would disobey laws that they felt violated divine law.

5. I know. That's why I'm open to the idea.
They've done away with Habeas Corpus. That's the biggest thing they've done, in my opinion.

After you've done away with the Great Writ, as well as posse commitatus (sp? DU spell check doesn't help), the stretch to full-blown dictatorship doesn't look that big.

8. Don't you mean MORE unthinkables?
Along with the negligence during 9/11 and Katrina, the manipulations of Enron (and we're finally finding out) the oil market, domestic wiretapping, torture and destroying the Constitution.

And, I don't even know if I can post the rest of them..one more unthinkable thing is par for the course for the GOP.

Oh, wait, no more golf metaphors; we're at war.

9. You really should prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Being prepared is not a bad place to be regardless of what happens. Stock up on canned food, make sure your batteries are good, some cash stashed away somewhere, etc. Prepare like the Great Depression is coming.

14. I can't believe anyone thinks that bushy wants to do
anything but gtf out of D.C. as soon as he can. He's virtually powerless at this point. He's not going to suspend elections and impose martial law or bomb Iran. Not now. He's about as enfeebled as a president can be.

Since when did the unthinkable ever stop them? I figure if it is unthinkable to us then yes, they will attempt it.
