I picked up Target Iran by Scott Ritter a few days ago and just read a few pieces and I already got a lot of information that THEY ARE NOT TELLING US.
- The President of Iran, who is elected by the public vote, is the Executive President (Head of government). In 1989, the Prime Minister's office was merged with the figurehead President's office to form the current post of President of Iran. However, certain executive powers, such as commandment of the armed forces and declaration of war and peace, remain in the hands of the Supreme Leader.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad DOES NOT HAVE FINAL SAY in military mattershttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supreme_Leader_of_Iran- The current Supreme Leader - Ali Khamenei -
issued a fatwa AGAINST NUCLEAR WEAPONS. "Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has issued a fatwa saying the production, stockpiling and use of nuclear weapons was forbidden under Islam. The fatwa was cited in an official statement by the Iranian government at an August 2005 meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.<54>"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Khamenei#Nuclear_weapons"In 2004 Khamenei delivered a fatwa (religious edict) regarding the use of nuclear weapons, saying that they were “un-Islamic.” In a subsequent sermon, Khamenei elaborated on this position, declaring that “developing, producing, or stockpiling nuclear weapons is forbidden under Islam.”

Ali Khamenei NOT Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has the FINAL SAY on this matter. This is all consistant with the NIE stating Iran halted his nuclear weapons program in 2003.
