Let's send Teddy our get-well wishes
Something like sending a bouquet of flowers, or balloons, or whatever would be appropriate. (Well, probably not flowers. How 'bout a teddy bear with a DU t-shirt?)

If it turns out to be a false positive (hopefully), even a collective message of our relief would be good.

I myself am not set up to deal with the details, but there are some DUers who have organized similar things and it's usually gone over very well.

Does anyone have any input?

1. I'm ready to join in that effort
Ted Kennedy is the heart and soul of the Democratic Party. If we're ever going to make a gesture such as this for anyone, it would be for a great man like Ted Kennedy, a giant.

2. I know it is nice to give something tangible, but perhaps we could look into
causes he supports and give donations to one particular organization in his honor? Some organizations will allow groups to set up an account so donations will be pooled.

3. I over here (Central Europe) most of the time, but I'm in on anything
Mass General is one of the best hospitals in the country.

Unfortunately, this means their diagnosis has a high probability of being accurate.

Anyone in the Boston area?

As an aside, my brother-in-law has a stage 4 glioblastoma (the WORST) and according
to his doctors, he should have been dead 6 months after diagnosis, and that was
almost two years ago. Tumors don't grow as rapidly at age 76 as they do at age 50,
so there is reason to hope that if Teddy responds well to treatment, that he will
be around for a good while to come. However, if he gets an aggressive treatment,
he may not be able to continue his duties in the Senate, in which case it would
be better for Gov. Patrick to appoint a Democratic successor rather than leave us
one vote short. I'm sure Teddy will make the right decision in any case, and moral
support goes a long way to helping anyone with a catastrophic disease.

7. And, sadly, I doubt it would have been made public if there was any doubt about the diagnosis
But we can hope his age will slow this down - and perhaps the treatments will shrink the tumor.
