Trent Lott's seat to the (D) column
My personal gift to Senator Kennedy. I will intensify my efforts to ensure this is a reality come November and I will do so in Senator Kennedy's name.

It is a real possibility. Former (D) Governor and quite popular Ronnie Musgrove is running for the office.

1. Has Musgrove regained popularity after being booted in 2003?

2. I wouldn't consider it being booted
He was run over by the well oiled and well financed rove and barber political machine. All the good "patriots" and "christians" in the state needed a hero and his face was haley. I think Ronnie will do quite well come November.

3. Southern Democrats...
...are a different breed. Many of them are pro-gun and pro-life, like Bob Casey.

Most San Francisco progressives would call them Republicans or worse.

4. You are right
My Friend BUT the (D's) running for office are a step ahead of the real (R's) and they add to the total numbers in DC. And the comparisons work both ways. Imagine what "Southern Democrats" (you spew that as if it were a pejorative) think of San Francisco progressives. Let us sway the numbers as much as possible. I'll take Mary Landrieu (although I'm not a resident of LA) over anyone the (R's) may run against her this year.

8. I Didn't Mean...
...it the way you read it. I actually have a lot of respect for them.

Martin Frost is as conservative a Democrat as you'll find and he's a very popular guy in Dallas. He never had problems winning races there, for years and years.

Phil Gramm and Rick Perry (who's too good looking for his own good) were both Democrats at one time.

There's also nothing wrong with Mary Landrieu although I wish she hadn't sold real estate for a living. I grew up in real estate and insurance and those people bother me.

9. Oh we are in agreement My Friend
Real Estate Salesmen? Insurance Salesmen? Leave me alone. Hey one good thing about Mary Landrieu, her little baby brother Mitch, hopefully, will be the next Govenor of Louisiana or the next Mayor of New Orleans.

11. Oh...
...I tell people I'm half Pennsylvania redneck, and that's the half that got into the insurance and real estate business back in the mid sixties. He joined Western and Southern eight months before I was born and stayed until the early nineties.

I was also the first in the family to go to college and get a professional job. I'm a unix admin and my wife is an Oracle DBA. We've lived in the south and then on the west coast for years.

5. On the abortion question, it's not really being "pro-life," but rather, "anti-choice"
We need to use clear language, rather than the language provided for us by the Other Side...

6. Can Howard Dean's 50-State Strategy do again on the state level
for Musgrove
what they did for Travis Childers in District 1??

Childers may be a "Blue Dog", but this here Yankee was chortling in delight over the GOopers piddling in their pants as their candidate lost by EIGHT(8) percentage points (I was thinking 2-3 points, or a squeaker)

Maybe more so, because I haven't forgotten that remark Paul Begala made about the DNC giving $$$ to Mississippi and Utah so that staff people their could "pick their nose".

Schadenfreude is so sweet.

7. Musgrove
would never get elected to any post in Nancy Pelosi's district but he is a good man and would add to the (D) majority. I've heard rumblings that the DNC and the DSSC are going to being aiding and abetting Musgrove's efforts this summer and fall.
