Teddy Kennedy: He's not dead yet!
And he may not be dead for a long time.

He's got a serious illness, but glioma isn't an automatic death sentence. There's no such thing anymore.

Don't count him out!

1. I had to search around to make sure he didn't die from the posts I have been reading!
This is horribly sad... but he is not necessarily going to die!

34. Arlen Specter
spoke in the Senate today and reminding us that he had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor several years ago and was given only a few months to live. He's still here!

2. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These people on teevee act like they care and all they're doing is eulogizing him.

That grumpy old white haired presidential wannabe was the WORST.

15. He said "we will miss him"- Ted hasn't had a second of treatment yet and they
have him dead and gone. Rotten.

22. Is McCain THAT stupid?
Did he really say that?

This could be a real problem for us, because if he's that stupid, Republicans will turn out in droves for him on election day.

24. And subsequently herd themselves off cliffs
Or perhaps get hit by slow-moving vehicles. A few will bump into a tree or a wall and just get stuck there, like a roomba. A few will get hungry, panic, and eat their own young. Really, they're not that bright, so I doubt we have much to worry about.

27. They seemed to figure out how to get to the polls in 2000 and 2004
Sure, they won because they cheated in Florida and Ohio, but it shouldn't have been that close either time.

I'm convinced that the GOP's worst mistake would be to run an intelligent candidate.

That is an awesome image.

All getting stuck in a corner, can't turn around, start eating each other (zombies, anyone)?

30. I knew when they said seizure that it was a tumor and I prayed it
was benign. I read a report by a researcher that said everyone carried stuff in their head and if you saw cat scans of it you would be scared shitless. most of them, the greatest majority are benign formations.

4. Exactly.
I've been a little startled by how many people on this board seem to think cancer in any form is an automatic death sentence. That just isn't true anymore. The survival rate of this particular form is around fifty percent, and you know he will have the best doctors in the world, so in his case the odds are even better.

5. Did anyone hear John McCain just now?
He said something like "Senator Kennedy will be missed". I'm not trying to unfairly and meanly nitpick but it seemed like he was delivering a eulogy. We need to hope that, even if it's incurable, that at least he can slow its progression as much as possible.

Doctors at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center used the ''gamma knife'' procedure to administer radiation on the benign growth near the left front part of his skull.

17. I'll kick this
But to me I've had to deal with this
personally too many times with too many people close to me.

However, Kennedy will get the best care, best doctors and best hospitals
that the people I knew didn't get. I'll try to be optimistic, it an't over until
its over. Arlen Spector had one in 93 and then a remission 15 years later.

18. Jumping to Conclusions
It's easy to jump to conclusions when all you do is watch TV. Teddy is not in the ground yet, folks, and you know he will have the best health care possible. So, let's chill . . . and see how many wonderful things W and the Republicans say about Ted Kennedy over the next few days. Maybe one of them will offer to rename "Reagan" National Airport.

19. I Had The Same Reaction As MSNBC Was Talking About Him In The Past Tense (he was...).......
I posted on that a little while ago.

Also - I must say that Barack Obama is really a classy guy. I heard Andrea Mitchell's live interview with him and he was great. He had so many wonderful things to say and he said them well.

26. As many miracles as the Kennedy family has given this country -
I think Ted will be one more. Here's to the hope that his treatment is totally effective, painless and doesn't touch ONE DROP of the political acumen in his large, Democratic brain.

Here's to you, Senator :toast: and to many, many more years of your statesmanship.
