U.S. House leaders say military action against Iran cannot be ruled out
Sigh. So what happened to Conyers' and Biden's impeachment on the table? I guess that's now out...

U.S. House leaders say military action against Iran cannot be ruled out

(RTTNews) - A high level delegation of the U.S. House of Representatives visiting Israel warned on Monday that they do not rule out any option including a military action against Iran to stop it from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Speaking at a news conference at Israel's parliament, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House majority leader Steny Hoyer answered in favor to questions by journalists if military action should be taken against Iran.

Pelosi also listed diplomatic and economic options as important components. The Democratic leader hoped that Israeli-Syrian peace talks could help pull Syria away from Iranian influence.

The Congressional delegation concluded a four-day visit to Israel in connection with the 60th anniversary of the formation of the Middle East nation. The 13-member delegation also held meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and other leaders.

1. Pelosi's tables are insane. War is on the table
Peace and impeachment are not.

10. I hope she loses in November...
even if it's to a Republican, so that we don't have to deal with a weak, ineffectual Speaker. She is a disgrace.

2. It's just bad diplomacy to take away any options before discussions
begin. If we say that Military Action is "off the table", we lose leverage to get the talks started.

Believe me I don't want to go towar with Iran.

But to eliminate options, even one as odious as the use of Miltary, is just short sighted.

I don't believe Obama will ever say I will never use milatary force against Iran.

3. That is just absolutely wrong.
To say that a unilateral assault is off the table is not the same as saying "I will never use military force". When negotiating with another sovereign nation there is no good purpose served by saying, "We might bomb and/or invade you - just so you know." We have been twisted so far out of any form of common sense and normal behavior that people who consider themselves to be non-violent or, at least non-warlike, can say that we have to have war on the table are we lose...something. This is madness...

12. As far as I can tell it isn't, it's propaganda
Reality is that our own intelligence community reported that if they used to have a nuclear weapons program they halted it. The supposed support of violence in Iraq they wanted to prove with the weapons they found turned out to be a joke as well when experts found none of the weapons in question came from Iran. As far as international law goes they are allowed a peaceful nuclear program and we can't prove that isn't all they've got.

As I can tell is we're being marched to war based on impressions and suspicion rather than anything like real reason just like we were with Iraq and we need to pay more attention this time. The only reason they are a bigger problem now than 10 years ago is because we had to get aggressive in Iraq instead of using our heads, more bellicose and aggressive behavior now isn't going to improve the situation any. It just strengthens their hard liners, just as ours are strengthened when we're under threat, and it justifies any fears which might make them think they need a nuclear program.

8. Considering all evidence points to the fact they have no weapons
Why can't we rule it out?

The US, on the other hand, does have nukes and has recently committed numerous war crimes including the use of cluster bombs and depleted Uranium and of course illegally invading a nation in the first place.

13. By "military action" do they mean we'll drop a nuke?
Or are we going to conjure troops out of thin air?
Or what?

Your bluster to appear tough is a sign of intellectual weakness and your actions in regard to Bush and his attack on the Constitution among many other things shows you have not backbone nor mental capacity to judge.

Nazi Germany wouldn't have taken aggressive war off the table, either, I guess the Democratic Party is in good company...

20. there's just no low too low
for the last almost 8 years, just about every low that Bush could hit he has hit and he's gotten away with it...and it's the getting away with it that is the true measure of America.

Allow them to go free and nothing America says or does will ever overcome that

21. "Allow them to go free and nothing America

Truest damn words spoken in months on this or any board! When the Bush murderers walk free and the Democrats continue the criminal behavior that the Bush murderers started, there will be no going back. That will effectively end whatever hopes we had for this country, once and for all...
