I've noticed something about Marijuana and the likes of the O'Reilly's and Hannity's of the world...

I've noticed that most of the male public figures that are of my generation ie Babyboomers (born between 1946 & 1960 or so) who repeatedly suggest that they never smoked pot and that none of the people they knew smoked pot or some such nonsense fall into a very specific category.

No one wanted to get high with them.

Anyone else notice that? You might know someone from High School or College to this day, that was always "straight laced" and now they are a rabid right winger. Is it any surprise they turned out the way they did?

If you smoked when you were younger, would you have EVER wanted to share a Doob with the likes of a young Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity?

They never got high or knew anyone that DID get high because no one that GOT high wanted to be around them.

I realize this is not a grand revelation, it's just something I've been pondering for quite a while.

I mean, the last fucking guy in the world I could imagine having a couple of beers and a Bong hit with is someone like Dennis fucking Prager.

It's just more evidence that the last 30% might not only be unreachable, but are the ones we don't want to bother with anyway.

2. Yes, I think most of the extreme people are people who felt snubbed

while they were growing up. Now, the use the power and influence to propel hate. Its part of their ego. Also, notice those who lead the charge with the "family values" are usually those who lead private lives that are quite the opposite... Somehow their shame in their selves is propelled onto the general population.

stated a couple of years ago that its not so much that marijuana is as bad as drugs like coke and the like but the stuff they smoke these days verses "HIS DAY" could be construed as hard drugs simply because most of it is laced with harder drugs to make it more potent..

they have all gotten high, don't doubt it, more than likely most of them still do.

As I said, its more that nobody that got high wanted to get high with THEM.

I understand what you're saying, but my point is that the negative attitude towards safe, recreational drug use held by those members of my generation is in large part due to being excluded, either socially, intentionally or in any way from a group, to one degree or another when they were younger.

Besides, I have another, albeit, weaker theory. They did get high. It's just after O'Reilly got high, he'd pull out a loofah and/or falafel and wanted to do strange things. After Hannity got high he realized what a loser he was and just got super paranoid. And after Limbaugh got high he left pot behind and went on to the harder stuff like painkillers.

I've never smoked pot, never wanted to, never seen the point of it. Of course, people I KNEW did, but that didn't mean I wanted to.

This got me ridiculed a lot, and made me unpopular with some people. I didn't give a shit.

But I've also never been a rabid or even a mild right winger. And I do have plenty of friends, of all kinds.

It isn't necessary to share a doob or a bong hit with anyone in order to not end up as a subhuman creep.
