1. He actually said that? The gall.. another "So what" moment.
Why doesn't he just come out and say "I'm not a pretzledent that follows reality. I'm not a "reality" based leader if you will. A pretzledent makes his own reality. I'm the "reality maker" if you will."

:grr:

Of course, come January he will be 'back in the oil business', so I'm sure he's delighted.

5. One of his people did, actually
This is one of my favorite quotables:

In the summer of 2002, after I had written an article in Esquire that the White House didn't like about Bush's former communications director, Karen Hughes, I had a meeting with a senior adviser to Bush. He expressed the White House's displeasure, and then he told me something that at the time I didn't fully comprehend -- but which I now believe gets to the very heart of the Bush presidency.

The aide said that guys like me were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''

16. Actually, they didn't
And that's been one of my biggest fights in DU besides the one against the DLC- Bushco has attempted to rewrite history twice by selling the idea that GWB won the elections. As George Carlin put it on Countdown:

"He’s Governor Bush, because that’s the last elected office he held legally in this country."

2. Did he actually say that?
Cuz my guess would be that he's watching it closely, counting all the money he's making taking us all for a ride.

8. Exactly. A novel is interesting. A documentary is interesting. The suffering of a nation is not!

10. I can tell you that Bush is NOT suffering in the least
And that's all that matters in his mind...and everyone else's in his administration.

11. He's such a dumb fuck.
This reminds me of the time he was trying to privatize social security. He was at a "town hall" meeting talking to a woman who has THREE JOBS. This heartless asshole said "Three jobs - well, that's uniquely American! That's fabulous". He does not give one shit about this country or anyone in it.
