Mukasey says that lawyers doing their part to protect the country in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks should not now be held liable for having done so.

A big thanks a lot for DINO's Schumer and DiFi.

7. very strange that Muck Muck would look to Goldsmith--who found the legal work on the Bybee Memo
shoddy.

9. He's trying to further justify the torture and other illegal acts
by bringing Goldsmith in...since Goldsmith is perceived as being a voice of dissent...and the example "Muck-Muck" is using from Goldsmith's book is to illustrate that everyone wanted us to do what we did...

so...not really strange

Besides, Goldsmith himself excused Addington and Gonzales (and the rest ) with the "they thought they were doing the right thing" rationalization

which is part of what "Muck-Muck" is saying...

2. A big thanks to the people here at DU who insisted
That the Dems in Congress knew what they were doing when they confirmed Mukasey.

He's as bad as I feared.

4. Here's a funny one
I was off the airwaves for all of last year and some of this year, and I had no idea that we had a new AG. Then I saw him, and started to read up on him, and JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY! They found someone worse than Gonzales. Worse than Miers. I was aghast.

The guy's filth. How did any Democrat vote for his confirmation? I'm appalled.

Did Gonzales find work yet, I wonder?

he won't allow DOJ to act on subpoenas from Congress.

8. Schumer's rationale for confirming Mukasey
He figured that once confirmed, Mukasey would somehow become magically beholden to the Senate. As Dr. Phil might drawl, "How's that workin' out fer ya, Senator?"

12. WHY did any Democrat vote for Muck? That question needs to be answered.
I understand that Congress critters will sometimes vote contrary to my wishes, but there are some votes that so important that I can not overlook them. For example the vote that clearly gave a sociopath authorization to invade a country. The Muck vote falls into that category. I think Schumer and DiFi and others owe the party an explanation.
