According to this interview with Helen Thomas...

Go in around 2:59 into the clip here for the comments.

She notes that we're about 10 years overdue, but it does seem rather fitting that we acknowledge Bobby Kennedy's great perceptiveness of where America was heading and could go back from those times!

I think these comments from Bobbie are important as we close in on the big anniversary next week. Would have nice to have not had that anniversary clouded by Clinton's comments, as we should take time then to remember what great promise he had then, and hopefully we can look to Mr. Obama today and see those promises realized!

2. I believe, had he not been assassinated, he might have been right.
The Democratic party would not have been shattered as it was, and Nixon would not have won the election in 68. We would not have had the Nixon debacle which resulted in laying the groundwork for Reagan and ushering an era of conservatism. The weirdness of all the hippies turning into yuppies in the late 70s, an effect of cynicism and broken ideals, might never have happened.

I seriously believe that the assassinations of RFK and MLK had a more fundamental effect on the country than JFK's.
