Bill O'Reilly: Combat Veteran

On his radio show, Bill-O singlehandedly saves his unit from an incoming round:

O'Reilly: But I tell you what, I've been in combat. I've seen it. I've been close to it. And if my unit is in danger and I got a captured guy and the guy knows where the enemy is and I'm looking him in the eye, the guy better tell me. That's all I'm gonna tell you. If it's life or death, he's going first. Roger, Portland, Oregon. What say you, Roger?

Roger: Yeah, hey, Bill. Bill, first things first. Ummmm, you just said that you've been in combat, but you've never been in the military, have you?

O'Reilly: No I have not.

Roger: Then why did you say you've been in combat?

O'Reilly: Why do I say that, Roger? Because I was in the middle of a couple of firefights in South and Central America.

Roger: But you're a media guy.

O'Reilly: Yeah, a media guy with a pen, not a gun. And people were shooting at me, Roger.

Roger: Because people might think that you actually were in the military.

O'Reilly: Ahhhhh. We don't want to mislead anybody, but I've made it quite clear in many, many circumstances ...

Roger: No, we don't want to do that, Bill, because we know how fair and balanced we are ...

O'Reilly: Yeah, hey, listen, Roger, you know what? You can take your little "fair and balanced" uhhhh snip remark and shove it. Okay? You're not getting on this air. And you, Mr. Macho Man, would have never come close to anything that I've done down where I've been. Okay? So take a walk and ... well, 'nuff said.

4. Please, Sir, Do Not Associate Pickled Herring With This Wretch
I like pickled herring, and want to be able to indulge in it in future without certain associations coming to mind....

15. I used to eat pickled herring quite a bit. Got hold of a bad jar of it. The
stuff exploded out of the jar and stunk up the place. Haven't been able to eat it since.

17. I Sympathize, Sir
And it is not a sit down and pack it in till you burst sort of food anyway. But seven or a eight pieces with some short-bread or soda-bread is a great snack still for me.

lunch. I wonder how it would go with Ouzo?

14. I knew a place in NC that had it on their salad bar.
We would go in and eat a couple of pounds at a sitting. The funny part is the guys I used to go there with were ex Navy SEALS.Being a SEAL and eating Herring... it was just too good.

5. Hahahahaha... If he's talking about reporting then why "my unit" &
"if I've got a captured guy"? He's clearly implying expertise or at least experience in those areas, when he has none. He's projecting a fantasy of himself, as usual. I'm sure the "in the middle of firefights" and "shooting at me" lines are gross exaggerations as well.

11. Bill O'Reilly in a firefight? The guy would piss his pants.
And of course he would have been a target - who wouldn't hear his loud mouth giving away the troop positions while he was throwing another infamous tantrum?

As for being in a "firefight". . .I suspect in O'Reilly's case a "firefight" is nothing more than watching the girl scouts build a summer retreat campfire.

18. Sounds like Billo's really itching to get back on Countdown and get more KO coverage.
Maybe he thinks more people will see him on Keith's show than on his own. At least in the "money demo."

As for his older audience, it keeps mysteriously shrinking. Death from old age will do that, though.

19. I'm sure O-Liar has lots of witnesses to his "being shot at."
Is there photographic/video evidence of this incident?

Oh, that's right, he only had his pen with him. How convenient.

Such an obvious liar.

22. O'Reilly is not fit to scape the mud off a vet's boots...
he's a coward, just like Limbaugh, Coulter, Buchanan, Ingraham...they all had a chance to serve, none did...but Randi Rhoades served. She gets pillioried, the others get a pass.

The cosest O'Reilly ever got to a "firefight" was when he was sitting on the can after a hard night of chili and green beer. He wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes in any unit I served with. In fact, I'm willing to bet he would not have made it out of Basic!

:grr:
