No love for anti-war veterans in Bremerton parade
BREMERTON - American flags and military uniforms filled the streets of Bremerton on Saturday as thousands celebrated the nation's largest Armed Forces Day parade.

But one group of veterans - calling themselves Veterans for Peace - was asked to stay away.

Members of the group say they were left out of the parade because of their anti-war message. They don't think it's right that parade organizers won't let them promote their cause.

"We served our country, too, and we happened to believe that the administration is incorrect in their foreign policy and their military policy," said one veteran in the group, Tom Krebsbach.

About 30 Veterans for Peace group members marched anyway. They waited until the end of the parade, then followed the last unit. Police officers along the route made no attempt to stop them.

2. In today's Amerika,
free speech is exactly as free as the parade organizers will allow it to be.

Nice treatment of veterans, isn't it? So much for "supporting our troops." I guess it's "support our troops as long as they don't speak their own minds."

God bless Amerika.

4. Pork trumps diversity of political thought. Its economy is the shipyard.
Bremerton is where my 2nd ship was built. Think "Officer and a Gentleman," where the jobs and the dates and marriage benefits and bars and restaurants and electronics and underwear store sales are all dependent on The Eagle's Shitting (or not).
