Bush/McCain Behind Closed Doors
Bush will be joining John McCain on the campaign trail next week, but he's so unpopular they don't want anybody but big donors to know about it. The events will be closed to the public, and will not be allowed anywhere inside the fundraisers.

President Bush starts raising money for John McCain's campaign next week, but the three fundraisers are closed, so there will be no news media cameras photographing the outgoing and incoming Republican party leaders together nor reporters observing their joint appearances.
The White House announced Friday that Bush will be the main attraction at three McCain events next week — in Phoenix, Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah.

During Bush's three-day trip, he is also holding official presidential events at a Mesa, Ariz., cable company on Tuesday and at the U.S. Air Force Academy commencement on Wednesday. Under the complicated formula by which the cost of presidential travel is allocated when he is doing party events, the presence of official events on his schedule dramatically reduces the cost to McCain's campaign for Bush's campaign appearances.

2. political fundraisers should not be allowed to be 'closed', IMO
a political party is, in essence, a public entity and as such should not be allowed to hold 'private' events.

7. They chickened out of a big fundraiser at the convention center
because of the promise of massive protests. That was confirmed by a McCain spokesperson to a local news station. Now they're having the fundraiser at a private home after the visit to a cable company. I have no idea yet what that's all about.

I'll post more details as I learn about them.

8. Here's more about the visit:
President Bush is coming to Mesa on Tuesday to visit a company benefiting from the economic stimulus plan.

Bush is scheduled to be at Silverado Cable Co., near Main Street and Dobson Road, at 3:05 p.m. He will make a statement on the economy and talk about how Silverado is benefiting from the business tax provisions in the economic stimulus package. The visit is not open to the public.

Bush is combining the Mesa trip with a fund-raiser for John McCain.

Silverado owner Robert Simpson described being chosen for the visit as "exhilarating." :puke:

10. A room at the local Holiday Inn would be a waste of their meager
campaign war chest. I hear they can get the men's bathroom at the local BP station for free. Save money and make it easy to flush the BS that will be overflowing the room when their groupies get done genuflecting before Chucklenuts and McInsane.
