Plese post here to help us remember your loved ones KIA or MIA
A childhood friend, my sister's first love, was killed in action in Desert Storm on January 30, 1991 in fighting around the Saudi border town of Khafji. It was "friendly fire".

He was Marine Private First Class Scott Schroeder of Wauwatosa, WI. He had just turned 20.

RIP, Scott. It was his senseless death that lit a fire under my ass to become politically aware and active.

I never knew him. He is buried in the Phillipines.

4. My brother, Greg, was killed after only 10 days in Vietnam. He was a Marine medic....
who enlistd in the Navy before he could be drafted. The Navy promised him he would be a Dental Tech, but he was assigned to the Marine Corps as a Medic. He was immediately sent to Hill 881 on Khe Sahn, turned 20 years old and was killed a week later in a bloody ambush that killed 18 Marines (the day I graduated from high school).

And that is why I am radically anti-war.

6. Young man from this small, ag community, the kid from up the street when school was in session
and from the family ranch when school was out.

I still miss you, Owen. Especially in May.

His mom told me in his last call home, he told her Iraq was a terrible place and when he came home to Montana, he would never leave home again.

Guess Owen was right. He came home to stay. And his mother, well, we send her love and strength, but it is no compensation.

7. Another story from Montana
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=163x109

The Crow People found a way that my neighbor Owen was related to the Crow People. It meant a lot to his blond mother that they included Owen in a tribute to fallen warriors.

11. My dad's best military friend was shot down over NVN and held
prisoner for a time before he was killed in prison or died there. His remains were finally returned to the US, long after the POWs came home. My dad wore a POW-MIA bracelet with his name on it until he died.

RIP Col. James Metz, USAF
