Anyone notice Pairs of Airplanes flying?
Okay, my wife and I live north of Pittsburgh and South of Erie in PA. Now a few weeks ago so notice 2 rather large planes (size of maybe 727) flying right behind one another and flying pretty low one day while she was working. This past week as she was driving home she notice again two planes flying low again and in pairs.

This morning as we where watching TV sometime around 10:15 we heard this rumbling over our heads and I looked out to see two large planes flying very low and side by side.

Has anyone seen anything like this? Does anyone know what is happening?

1. That does seem curious.
It's got me speculating.

Do you think they were military planes?
Like spy surveillance or moving special
people somewhere?

2. Were they military planes?
If so, was one refiling the other? I live about 60 miles south of Norfolk, VA (as the crow flies), and we quite often see planes out over the ocean doing refiling exercises. When we see it a lot, we know something is up.

4. I'd say "chemtrails", but that's verboten here

...No "conspiracy theories" allowed here (even tho' throughout the summer all I have to do is look up each afternoon to see the damned things)...

5. Were the engines "smoking"?
If the engines were leaving behind a brownish exhaust they could have been b-52's on a training mission.
Did it look like this?

They could be C-130's on a training flight;

I get low level flyby's once a week from the Air Guard unit based in Nashville.

7. My wife said the B 52 is about the length of what she saw was about
that length. I think it could have been. Again my view was kind of akward. They where flying north. But until my wife first sighting a few weeks back we never seen anything like this and from what we have see of the Army bases around here we don't think they are big enough to have such Big planes.

But you could be right. It is just so strange for us.

6. We aren't sure if they where military planes. The one good look my
Wife got she could not see any good marking (That was a few weeks back.)

When I looked out this morning. I looked out a window and my view was some what hampered BUT I can tell they where flying so close and side by side I thought if they where any closer the planes would hit each others wings. Also It just seemed very low to be refueling.

My wife did tell me we are near two Army bases...Very smalls bases. I'm buying a couple disposable cameras so that if we see this again we can take pictures.

8. 2 Fighters flew over the city here last weekend when I was working in the yard.
Unusual yes as they do not usually fly over the populated city. Heading east northeast.

10. May I ask what area of the country you are in? I'm just trying to
figure out if it all could be connected.

9. Most likely PANG out of Pittsburgh
Saw them last week while driving through on the PA Pike, PANG has an air-refueling wing at PIT.

Ohio ANG flies into the Ravenna Arsenal near Warren on a regular basis with 130's; I don't know if they are on maneuvers or actually flying munitions out of the Arsenal.

13. You may be exactly right it is just that my wife has lived here 28 years
And this is the first time she ever saw anything like she did.

Even after 9/11 and when at one point the Sharon base thought it was going to be called up and started to train we never saw anything like this.

Thanks for letting me talk about this.

14. Years ago you could watch national security airplanes refuel
Edited on Mon May-26-08 10:36 AM by Democrat 4 Ever
in mid-air just about the same time everyday in the skies over Kentucky. Of course, they weren't low flying. A friend's husband was part of the airplanes that (at that time, don't know if they still do it or not) stayed in the air alert for national emergencies (back when real security was an issue and not a talking point). She said the crews called the refillings over Kentucky the Whiskey Rendezvous.

Know that doesn't address your question, just always thought that tidbit was interesting.

Edit - for the record. I'm about 20 miles from Fort Knox and their airfield. I have noticed a lot more helicopter flights, in groups of three or more shuttling back and forth. Maybe training and/or headed to or from Fort Campbell. I just figured it was training and/or routine flights, just more of them.

16. Me and the kids go camping and fish at West Branch
Just south of the Arsenal. Believe me, when those planes come over the ridge line south of the lake on approach to the landing strip in the Arsenal, it gets your attention. They come out of nowhere.

You could throw a rock and hit one, they are flying so low.

17. our family has camped at West Branch Park also
we live about 30 minutes from it. Those planes do fly low. At softball games they sure attract everyone's attention. Probably much lower at the point of origin though.

15. Here in NE Ohio
we see this all the time. Someone told me it is the National Guard out of Ravenna which is Northwest of us. In the summer when I am at ball games and gardening I see them about every night. A few years ago it used to be three in a row, now we are down to two also. Wonder if the price of jet fuel caught up with them?
