Bush and Mars
All this talk about Mars lately, it made me think of that Bush quote:
'George W Bush' Quote

"Mars is essentially in the same orbit...Mars is
somewhat the same distance from the Sun,
which is very important. We have seen
pictures where there are canals, we believe,
and water. If there is water, that means there is
oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."

2. So that's how we got into a Iraq and it became a disaster
Right, Frat Boy, that means everything's just going swimmingly.

Floating around in or near that water could be microbes of a variety we've never seen before and to which we have no immunity.

Tell you what, we'll send you and Cheney up there first to find out.

10. Dan Quayle said it, not Bush

Here are two sources - wikiquotes and snopes.

"Mars is essentially in the same orbit...Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."
Vice President Dan Quayle, Hawaii, 8/11/89 (interview broadcast on CNN, referenced in 9/1/89 Washington Post article: "A Quayle Vision of Mars")

<snip>
Dan Quayle has certainly made more than his share of misstatements, and most of the ones on the following list are actual Quayle quotes (although versions of this list with all the quotes mischievously attributed to Vice-President Al Gore and Texas governor George W. Bush also circulate around the Internet).

"Mars is essentially in the same orbit . . . Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe."

8. What makes me laugh is...
he was probably telling that like he always explains something to an audience--like the people are children or something.

11. Mars being the god of War, we should send the entire Republican Party there.
Or at least the neocons.
