1. Conservative - but, as has been said, ones who want to screw prostitutes and
roast a bowl.... while gladly watching legions of poor die in Dickensian workhouses because they weren't meritorious enough.

2. Repub all the way
look no further than the Republican Liberty Caucus.

a member has told me, when i asked "why do you want to align yourself with the Repubs?", "you've got to fish where the fish are".

(in other words, Dems won't go for that bait)

5. Rethuglican
Libertarians always prefer the Rethuglican party to the Democratic.

In their eyes, we would "steal" their hard-earned money to help the undeserving.

The "undeserving" being those who are "unsuccessful" in their god-like capitalist market.

6. Delusional moonbats
Every "libertarian" I have encountered had no idea of how the world really works. Everything they espouse sounds good until you press them on how this would actually work out in practice. Then, they wander deeper and deeper into the forest until they're completely lost.

My all-time favorite was a student of mine who told me she hated liberals and considered herself a libertarian. She was a single-mom on public assistance going to a state-run college on financial aid and had gotten in under a special admission policy that overlooked her SAT combined score of about 700.

7. A bit of both
These days it would lean more toward repub but it used to be that they could go either way and I'd guess it could again. Too many act as if libertarian is just one group of people, there's at least two and I'd think more than that many groups of them.

Business libertarians are dangerous, not much more useful than neocons and they helped to apply pressure to deregulate everything over the last few years. Played the part of disinterested outsider to the two parties and managed to hook both into what turned out to be some pretty damaging ideas.

Then we've got the social libertarians, we see some of those here with the occasional poll results for libertarian leaning progressives. Basically they don't like forms of social control such as drug war, laws against prostitution, against gay marriage, or whatever else that involves two or more people but no unwilling victim. Extremes count here, regulation might be better in any of them than unregulated and if it doesn't work in trial they might have to give up or adapt the idea, but one with common sense about extremes and results could be ok. We could draw voters from them if we'd not worry them with the nanny State idea, that's the biggest part of what they object to with the dems.

Then there's the basic "I just want to be left alone" type. They don't want anyone screwing with them but too often they don't see anything wrong with imposing their will on others. They claim libertarian but I don't think they really understand or support what they claim past the basic they want to be left alone bit.

9. Republicans who want to smoke pot and get laid
Believe in laws and government to protect the property and liberty of white males only. In keeping with that, they are amazingly tolerant of authoritarianism on all people who are not white males, particularly when those persons are women (IOW chattel). They are also committed to the idea that affirmative action prevents white males from rising to their proper echelon in society due to their innate superiority.

In short, Barr will get Republican votes.
