6. Thats because it is seasonally adjusted, you see
If inflation was 20% last year, and also 20% this year, then there is no change. Got it.

3. Funny, I don't remember anything like this with food prices in 1991.
Or at any other time in my adult life either, and I'm 51.

4. I haven't seen inflation like this since the late 70s
and it's far from over yet. High fuel prices are here to stay now, just like they were back then. Because of the drop in the value of the dollar, alone, our gas prices should be the 2003 price, doubled. In other words, they're about where they should be in most markets right now.

As the fuel inflation works its way through the economy, the price of everything from a loaf of bread to a pair of shoes also skyrockets. We're only seeing the beginning of this process, and don't expect wages to catch up anytime soon. We still don't have the buying power we had in 1969.

The best advice I can give people is learn how to cook, and learn how to eat foods that are closest to the farm, with the least processing possible. That's the cheapest way to eat no matter whether you're a dedicated carnivore or a strict vegan.

It's going to get a lot worse before anything starts to get better.

5. so true
we make more money than we ever did, but it seems we have less to spend

I feel for those who are living on minimum wage

our daughter works at Micky D's makes 7 bucks an hour...not bad for a 17 year old, but gas is 4 bucks a gallon. She lives at home and is workign for the typical teen stuff

how are people doing it that have to pay rent, car payment ect???
