9. Yeah, and she had to pay up several millions in reparations of
some sort. She was on the ENRON Board and Audit Committee. She is a ratfucker extraordinaire.

5. She was on ENRON's board and pushed Phil to push thorugh legislation ......
.... that came to be called The Enron Loophole. It essentially made it illegal to oversee energy trading and led to the California debacle, the downfall of ENRON and today's oil speculators.

Speculators add NO value and serve NO purpose other than to SCREW the little guys while enriching themselves. Speculators are lower than whale shit.

6. For those who aren't familiar with this douchebag...
His most quotable quotes from Wikipedia:

Most people don't have the luxury of living to be 80 years old, so it's hard for me to feel sorry for them." — In response to a claim that a Social Security proposal would hurt people over 80.

"Has anyone ever noticed that we live in the only country in the world where all the poor people are fat?" — During his first Senate Campaign against Democrat Lloyd Doggett.

"We're going to keep on building the party (the Texas Republican Party) until we're hunting Democrats with dogs." — As quoted in Mother Jones, August 1995

"If you are willing to tackle the tough issues, you don’t need to worry about stepping on anyone’s toes; they will stand aside and shove you to the front.” — As quoted by former Gramm staffer Wayne A. Abernathy September 12, 2002, before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs.<[br />

8. I remember when the Rosenbergs were executed
My parents, true-blue socialists, thought that Julius had done wrong but that Ethel was an innocent victim. They didn't believe that either of them should have been executed, and neither do I. (Now that I think of it, I wonder if people wouldn't have said "true red" socialists back then....funny how the language changes over time!)

10. The Enron Loophole and the price of gasoline
Edited on Tue May-27-08 10:16 PM by housewolf
Been hearing lately that there's a connection. Apparantly traders who formerly used the Enron Loophole to bring us the Enron Debacle have been using that legislation to speculate on oil in what's called "dark markets" - markets where there is no regulation. On C-Span this morning, Michael Greenberger, Trading Commission, Fmr. Dir. Commodities Futures, talked about it and said that this unregulated speculation is the cause of at least 1/3 of the price of oil lately. He's testifying before Congress about it next week.
