Rove Subpoena. Anyone know of any updates on this issue?
Latest reports I can find are from May 23rd, "old news". Is this a dead issue with Congress now? Has the claim of "executive privilege" actually caused the Dems to back down?

1. July 10...
That's the day he is supposed to appear before the Judiciary Committee on the Siegelman case. My bets are he's a no-show and will continue to dare Conyers, Leahy and others to come after him...using his "executive privilidge" loophole as his excuse. He's also still fighting previous subpoeans that are now being contested in court in front of a pro-boooosh judge...a reason why he feels so smug about shooting off his piehole.

Here's hoping Conyers pushed for Inherent Contempt...it's long overdue. However, remember, any indictment of this criminal will be pardoned away...thus, sadly, it may be best to wait until after 1-20-09...digging up more evidence in the meantime...and then holding ALL Democrats accountable to investigate and prosecute all the abuses and crimes of the past 7 years...not just booosh and cheney, but EVERYONE in that criminal enterprise.

2. Thanks for the response
I'd like to think that Congress would also take issue with Mukasey and charge him with something like obstruction of justice for blatantly refusing to enforce the Congressional subpoena.

4. They Really Can't...
Until this regime, the process was for the House or Senate to turn a contempt citation over to the Justice Department to handle the prosecution. It wasn't mandated...but was a "gentlemen's agreement" between the two that the DOJ would serve as not only the regime's laywers but also that of the legislative. That now is a farce...Inherent contempt was the original means for Congress to compell testimony...and looks like its time to bring it back.

My hopes are that after 1-20-09, we'll get a full housecleaning of the DOJ...removing all those Liberty Goodlings who turned that department into the Department of Obstruction. I'd love to see Mukasey and Gonzalez having to testify and/or be indicted for their complicity in crimes of this regime. A lot will ride on this year's elections...a large Democratic win (especially with big gains in the House and a 60+ majority in the Senate) could force some long overdue accountability and go after the crimes of this regime...not cause it's the right thing to do, but, as always, the most expedient. A big GOOP loss will lead to the blame game and we'll see members of this regime served up.

5. Well we might be in good shape
if the three recent special elections are any clue...which I can only imagine that they are. Republicans pushing ads to link the Dem. to Obama backfired and the Dems won. This to me is a clear indication that Obama is not only a shoe in to win the Presidency, but it appears he will have huge coattails vastly changing the face of Congress. It's no wonder so many freepers are on this site daily repeatedly pushing the "Hillary is winning" "Obama can't win" nonsense. Bottom line, they're scared shitless.

7. We Still Have A Lot Of Work To Do
The big hurdle now is that Democrats have shown they stand on the right side of the most important issues to a vast majority of the voters, but they still haven't sealed the deal. The fact that any GOOPer can poll over 45% is proof that we still have a ways to go.

I'm not as consumed with the Presidential popularity game...and both welcome and support Senator Obama's primary victory as some vindication, but the real heavy lifting will be done in the downticket races. As you noted, those three wins this year are big...and a harbinger of things to come, and if there are any coattails I see it from the bottom up, rather than the top down. A Ronnie Musgrove won't win in Misssissippi because of Obama, but Obama could carry the state thanks to those coming out to support Musgrove...and we will see that in other races around the country.

Some in the GOOP see what's happening, but they're still shouted down and ridiculed by the flying monkeys like Rushbo and the other propagandists...it won't be until their corrupt party gets a complete trashing that some real soul searching will begin...and then watch the wingnuts still hang onto their lies...blaming others for the defeat.

Cheers...
