Another Obama convert......
Last night I was speaking to my 67 yr old mother, who is an avid republican and even more avidly Southern evangelical. We drifted ever so slightly into politics.....which we almost never do, and she shocked me by saying that she would NEVER vote for McCain because he is just like Bush. And that she really liked Obama and would more than likely vote for him in November.:bounce: :headbang: It made my night!!!! I just had to share.

2. just keep working on her through November
I heard a ton of those stories on DU in 2004, but a lot of them ended up going back to Bush because the RW and the media had so effectively demonized Kerry.

69 & 72 year old reagan democrats, voted for GWB twice. i knew they'd never vote for hillary because of their irrational hatred of WJC, fed daily by WLW's Bill Cunningham.

i keep reminding them that McCain cheated on wife #1 with Cindy.

4. Oddly enough, my 80 year old grandmother said the same thing.
She's a die-hard conservative Republican and yet she says she'll vote for Obama.

5. My perspective...
Before I made the mistake of glancing at DU again, I was almost set to vote for Obama. I mean, I held my nose when I voted for Kerry, I could possibly do it again. However, after all the hate from the Obama supporters, the "I hate white women," the ugly and untruthful "petticoat slavery" comments, and the constant attacks (see above) on anyone who dares to walk a different path, I'm sitting out this election. Supporters resemble their candidate and vice versa, just look at bushy and his knuckle draggers. I'm beyond disgusted at this point and see no reason to vote for more bs.

In any case, feel free to carry on and flame away (as usual). Bleh.

7. If for no other reason Pag.....
please vote for whatever democrat wins the primary for the sakes of the millions of Middle Easterners who might die from us foolishly electing McSame. No flame, just a plea from someone who cries every time I think of the horror we have set upon Iraq and those wonderful people.

10. I'd have to...
abandon this place for a long time just to convince myself to go to the polls. And then what would I stare at while taking a break? I can only chuckle at the Craigslist's personal ads for so long before they get boring. :-)

12. There are not "innocents"
in politics. But please keep in mind the Supreme Court Justices and Roe v. Wade also while considering the 1 million dead Iraqi's.

My parents have their heads so firmly planted between their butt cheeks that they will never, NEVER give up on the Mepublicans. NEVER! My stepmom has 50 lies about Obamna heaped up in her brain ready to spew forth should I ever suggest that he would be the only rational choice.

11. While canvassing I have come across so many conservative Republicans
Who will be casting their vote for Obama. There are a slew of Obamacans out there that the media doesn't discuss. These voters would either stay at home or vote for McCain if Hillary Clinton is any where near the Dem ticket.

For all the talk here and in Hillary's camp about how she is a better candidate, no one ever discusses how Obama brings in millions of new voters and Republicans into the Dem party, putting swing and RED states into play in the fall.

The superdelegates know this very well. That's why they aren't switching BACK to Hillary Clinton.

The Enablers can call us dumb and stupid until they turn red in the face, but the bottom line is that Hillary Clinton is polarizing and divisive. Republicans hate her and they only need an excuse to go back to the Republican tent. Hillary provides that excuse.
