Exxon Mobil Shareholder Meeting Under Way

DALLAS -- Exxon Mobil Corporation's shareholder meeting is under way in Dallas.

And Wednesday's meeting could be a tough one for Rex Tillerson, the chairman and CEO of the world's largest publicly traded oil company. He's fighting to hang on to the two top jobs, while some members of the Rockefeller family and other shareholders push to separate the roles.

Rockefeller family members and others have said they're concerned Irving-based Exxon Mobil is too focused on short-term gains from soaring oil prices and should do more to invest in cleaner technology for the future.

A small contingent of about two dozen protesters showed up before the meeting. Exxon Enough Coalition members carried signs and occasionally chanted. A small plane flew overhead a couple times, towing a banner urging an end to the Iraq war and boycotts for Exxon and other major oil companies.
