Well fuck that
Well fuck that
by Goldy, 05/28/2008, 9:28 AM
A poll of more than two thousand executives finds that 36% have issued a formal warning, and 6% have actually fired an employee for using foul language in the work place. According to the survey conducted by TheLadders.com, the five most egregious violations of workplace etiquette…?

1. Bad language (38.4%)
2. Excessive workplace gossip (36.5%)
3. Drinking on the job (35.2%)
4. Leaving the office without telling anyone (33.6%)
5. Too many personal calls (28%)

Jesus… that pretty much describes the average workday of the typical blogger.

2. I pretty much learned how to use bad language at my various offices.
And gossip, OMG! If there are more than 10 employees the office usually becomes a freaking soap opera pretty quickly. Especially if two employees are dating or have dated in the past.

3. And the way to keep yourself from ever getting fired
Accidentally go into the archives vault at noon and catch your boss boinking the secretary.

That happened to me on a part time job when I was still in college and I could still work there today if I wanted to.

I could have walked around saying fuck this fuck that all day and nobody would have touched me.

Forty some years later I still laugh when I think about it.

4. The trick is...
...to find a job that encourages all of those things!

I swear...I used to work for a high-tech company that produced animations--and if
you didn't do at least three of those things daily--you were an outcast!

That was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime work experience.

...and no, I wasn't fired.

5. How ridiculous.
Funny that incompetence and failure to do the job are nowhere on that list. Probably because the execs would have to fire themselves.
