Water is wet, sky is up there, asparagus makes my piss reek, and they fucking lied.
Axiomatic.

They lied. From soup to nuts. Many of us knew this about six years ago. I wrote a book about it.

We knew the MSM was enabling the goddam mess because war is good for ratings; CNN's viewership went up 500% after September 11, and if you think the hepcats in the advertising didn't connect the dots and forecast the ducats, I have a bridge in New York to sell you. Those fucking shitbags are at least as responsible for the current calamity as the wretched shit-dogs in the White House, OEOB and Capitol Building.

They were the PR section, the means by which those Bush-borne monsters were able to terrorize an entire population into agreeing with a plan to commit mass murder in the first degree and grand theft writ large. Maybe they were just credulous dolts and didn't really know the score, and you know what? That's worse. At least the Bush guys had an ideology. These MSM scumwhores were just along for the ride, hoping to capture their own personal White Bronco Moment on film and advance their God damned vapid empty worthless careers enough to get limo service and an anchor seat and fame and fortune and stock options. The Bush people were evil with intent. The media people were evil in their utter diffidence. Bastards with perfect hair and makeup. Butchers who neither knew nor cared about what was what.

McClellan spilled ther beans...stone the fucking crows, right? Frankly, I'm shocked he had the stones to open his mouth. I barely remember his time at the podium because I make a point of never listening to deliberate liars who get paid to stare into cameras and shit on my country day after day; maybe I'm a slacker for it, but fuck that shit. I'd rather take a ball-peen hammer to my forehead than sit down and watch someone verbally undo constitutional law, governmental integrity and public trust. McClellan talked a lot of people into savage and violent death, into having their arms and legs and faces blasted away, into having their minds get turned to insensate slop by explosive concussion, into having their lives shattered by PTSD nightmares they will never fully escape.

Fuck Scott McClellan. He might as well have told us the sun rises in the east. Fuck the MSM. Nothing they say has been of any interest to me for a long, long time. I am many moons past needing to hear any of those ghouls acknowledge or confirm that which I have known to be brass-bottomed fact for years. If they said they lied, I'd think they were lying. They are not worth the skin keeping their putrid guts off their shiny shoes. Fuck them all.

If you want to make something out of this, staple McClellan and Bush and the rest of these motherfucking murderers to John McCain's forehead, paint them red and wrap them in Christmas lights and shove every one of them all the way into the puckered asshole of that complicit Bush-loving "Maverick" from Arizona, who voted to support all this shit between 95-100% of the time for the last five years and has every intention of keeping the party going for as long as the sun will shine.

Make something good from this shit and cripple the presumed GOP nominee with it. His poll numbers are way higher than Bush's or his party's, because the same MSM who helped start the war haven't gotten around to letting people know that, yeah, he was the loudest cheerleader in Congress for this bloodbath, and he deserves to be recognized for his stalwart support of the Commander In Chief.

Water is wet, sky is up there, asparagus makes my piss reek, and they all fucking lied. Stop the fucking presses.

(/rant)

We all know that they lied, but now that McClellan has named Rove, Chaney and Libby as intentionally lying can there be something done about it? Might this lead to impeachment hearings or SOMETHING?

He would have been the biggest wussy in GOP history according to the fanatical right wing.

Afghanistan would have been "more secure" had we not withdrawn the special forces and the CIA to start working in Iraq. Might have caught Bin Laden. Politics in Israel would be different.

The defense budget would have been 15% smaller. Less disabled vets. No telling if the idiot would have "won" Ohio and the election in 2004.

30. This thing started with a lie, 18 years ago
Jul 25, 1990:

Rumored transcript:

Saddam Hussein - If we could keep the whole of the Shatt al Arab - our strategic goal in our war with Iran - we will make concessions (to the Kuwaitis). But, if we are forced to choose between keeping half of the Shatt and the whole of Iraq (i.e., in Saddam s view, including Kuwait ) then we will give up all of the Shatt to defend our claims on Kuwait to keep the whole of Iraq in the shape we wish it to be. (pause) What is the United States' opinion on this?

U.S. Ambassador Glaspie - We have no opinion on your Arab - Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait. Secretary (of State James) Baker has directed me to emphasize the instruction, first given to Iraq in the 1960's, that the Kuwait issue is not associated with America. (Saddam smiles)

On August 2, 1990, Saddam's massed troops invade and occupy Kuwait. _____

Our MSM bought into our punishing invasion of Iraq, with really compelling (read: ratings) video in night-vision green and black, with the personalities (pre-grey Wolf Blitzer, Arthur "Scud Stud" Kent, Christiane "Scud Slut" Amanpour) and we were glued to the tube.

We never left.

42. I'll believe it when I see it.
Kennedy and his crew kept Pierre Salinger out of the loop regarding their plans to deal with missiles appearing in Cuba until the very last minute. That's kinda standard for press secretaries and the real power-brokers; don't tell them anything so they don't have to deliberately lie.

I'd be very surprised if McClellan knows anything substantive. The Bush crew was notorious for keeping counsel down to two or three people back in those days - Rove, Cheney, Rummy, and maybe Card. Condi, too, if she wasn't too busy not reading the al Qaeda files her predecessor left on her desk.

Notice I didn't include Bush. After every meeting, they'd water him and turn him toward the sunlight. Buttnut.

52. Bravo. Precisely why McClellan's book is important.
It does allow us to stamp McCain's head with it. Let us not get in McClellan's way. In fact, let him keep going. The timing couldn't be better now and it takes the attention off the bullsh*t concerning our nomination process and back on the stark lack of honesty of the republican administration and the republican nominee. The more talk about it in the media, the better we look. McCain's "experience" argument concerning foreign policy will ring hollow and Obama's judgement argument will ring true.

Why Asparagus Makes Your Pee Stink
by Hannah Holmes

"This is of no practical importance," the urologist tells me. "It wasn't part of my training. It's something we contemplated over pizza and beer." When I admit that I have actually timed the arrival of the distinctive odor in my pee after eating asparagus (about 15 minutes), the good doctor suggests, facetiously, that my groundbreaking research might lead to a tenure-track position at a fine university.

It is a sadly neglected field. But I'm not the first to ask.

In 1891 a scientist named "Nencki" had so very little to do that he convinced four guys to eat seven kilograms of asparagus (that's about three and a half pounds each). He collected the pertinent pee, worked some medieval magic on it, and concluded that the smell was due to a metabolite called methanethiol.

So there you go. Nencki claimed that as your body metabolizes asparagus, it produces this smelly chemical, which your discriminating kidneys see fit to dump into the bladder.

This probably doesn't qualify as red-hot science, but it's warm enough to spark differing opinions.

In 1975 a chemist from California claimed in Science that gas chromatography had fingered a different culprit: S-Methyl Thioesters, to be precise. No methanethiol.

Then there's the 1980 reference in the British Medical Journal that simply refers to "metabolites." Another asparagus scholar favors "six sulfur-containing compounds."

I'm voting for methanethiol, partly because the guy who did the gas chromatography left no forwarding address, and partly because the methanethiol entry in my aging Merck Index of chemicals is so interesting.

Methanethiol is composed mostly of sulfur with a splash of hydrogen, plus some carbon, a brew famous for its effect in rotten eggs, cabbages and paper mills. Convincing, no? Merck also notes the asparagus connection and, most intriguing, warns that methanethiol may be a narcotic in high concentrations.

Now if you're scowling at your screen and muttering, "My pee doesn't smell like asparagus," first ask yourself if you eat asparagus

Even if you do but lack the smell, you're still OK. In fact the fabulously funny book, The ReSearch Guide to Body Fluids (by Paul Spinrad, Juno Books, N.Y., 1994), says just 22 percent of survey respondents experience asparagus pee.

Early investigators thought genetics had divided the world into stinkers and nonstinkers. That was until 1980, when three researchers had the presence of mind to wave pee from the nonstinkers under the noses of the stinkers.

Lo and behold, the problem proved to be one not of producing the stinky pee but of being able to sniff it out.

If you've been deprived of this gift, don't give up hope. To increase the concentration of methanethiol molecules available to your snoot, you could either intentionally dehydrate yourself before you dine (this is unhealthful); or pee into a cup and sniff that. Or eat three and a half pounds of asparagus for lunch.

And if you experience a narcotic effect, you could be looking at a tenure-track position at a fine university.

Vocabulary
Asparagus fleet, n. Roman emperors were so fond of asparagus, which probably originated near the Mediterranean, that they kept special boats for the purpose of fetching it.

Only low information voters (99.99999% of Americans?) use their "reporting" to help in deciding whom they'll vote for...

70. Question is: Why did they REALLY invade?
Scotty's bullshit declaration certainly isn't news EXCEPT for the fact that now, we know, that THEY KNEW all along there was NO REASON to invade Iraq.

The way we have always been sold this... is that they were delusionally devoted to preventing the evil Saddam from doing the US harm and now we know that's all crap.

So why did they do it? Was Iraq just going to be the staging ground/base locations for an Iran invasion? (obviously basing in Saudi wasn't an option)

I want to know where the $$$ was in this for bush/cheney and co or at who's behest this was all for.

I believe like the media bush co aren't guided by anything but their wallets and their own greed...but with that said, great rant!

but not what you may think

"Bush went in for the oil -- not to get more of Iraq's oil, but to prevent Iraq producing too much of it."

76. Here's a more recent follow up to that story
In a hotel room in Brussels, the chief executives of the world’s top oil companies unrolled a huge map of the Middle East, drew a fat, red line around Iraq and signed their names to it.

The map, the red line, the secret signatures. It explains this war. It explains this week’s rocketing of the price of oil to $134 a barrel.

It happened on July 31, 1928, but the bill came due now.

Barack Obama knows this. Or, just as important, those crafting his policies seem to know this. Same for Hillary Clinton’s team. There could be no more vital difference between the Republican and Democratic candidacies. And you won’t learn a thing about it on the news from the Fox-holes.

72. Subtlety isn't your strong suit is it.

Well said!
