Edited on Wed May-28-08 10:45 PM by Mountainman
Who here didn't think the run up to the war was a bunch of lies and propaganda? I doubt there is anyone who was a DUer in 2002 that is surprised at all. So why the feign of surprise by the media? They knew as well as we did that we were being lied to.

start telling the truth for a change.

I am still somewhat surprised that he pulled his punches on bush as much as he did. But it seems NO ONE, even as much as they're now finger-pointing, wants to go that extra step and flat-out say bush was as guilty. He's still trying to cover for bush. But the buck stops at that Resolute Desk at which bush stole the right to sit. I suspect that's probably their inability to be completely and indeed ruthlessly objective and truthful.

Some of them fell deeply in love with george w. bush. Here he came, swaggering out of Texas with his cute little drawl and his funny, "homespun" humor and his calculated charm and all those fun, adorable little nicknames he was bestowing upon the "chosen" ones who effectively curried his favor the quickest. They let themselves be swept off their feet by him. Gee, here's a guy I could go have a beer with! How cool is that? And he's got that cool macho swagger like the lone cowboy Captain America John Wayne hero of their dreams. And after that nasty ol' Bill Clinton and his amazing elevator zipper and the bimbo eruptions and the lies about sex and oh my oh my how sordid that all was - here was a breath of fresh air! And they fucking SWOONED. And they lost their heads completely. And objectivity flew straight out the window. He was their new hero and weren't we glad he came!!!!! The new King of the Cowboys, and he was all ours, 'eh? Next best thing to st. ronnie, anyway! And he's kinda cute, too.

And thus rendered favorably predisposed toward him, they laid down and died in front of him so he could walk all over them, which he did. And they were grateful and felt themselves exalted to be in his presence. This was different! HE was different! Sigh!

The French have a saying (I forget how to say it in French) about how - when the cock stands up the brains go into the ground. Well, the entire mainstream White House Press Corpse just completely lost its collective head, along with whatever objectivity and common sense might have been in there to begin with, once upon a time.

All that blood, carnage, destruction and ruin is on THEIR hands, too. And those who bleat about how it was partially the public's fault, and it was the mood of America at the time (as that idiot Ken doll Brian Williams whined) forget that THAT IS HOW THE PUBLIC FORMS ITS OPINIONS IN THE FIRST PLACE. They develop their views based on what they hear and see on radio, TV and cable, and to a lesser extent print - and in some cases, foul, lie-filled, agenda-driven, wrong-wing nutcase websites like drudge and freeperville and newsmax and the rest of 'em. THAT'S how most of the public gets its info, from which it builds its own opinions. It's the media. The media is the message and the conclusion/decision-making gateway. And it utterly failed the entire country - if not the whole world.

BTW - I wrote a rant about this that just got picked up by Huffington Post!

4. Yep, just like Colin Powell. Re: Powell--I never saw anyone look so much
like they wanted to do the greyhound dash than I did Powell at the UN.

Given half a chance, he would have been in Pittsburg in ten minutes.

6. I think we underestimate what a closed circle jerk the inside the beltline crowd are...
we have the ability to think objectively - the media and the pols are thick in their own little world where their reality is a creation of the administration propaganda. Liberal media my ass!

9. Yes
watching the news shows tonight really highlighted this. They are totally out of touch with the rest of the country. They reinforce each other in their closed DC bubble. I read foreign papers. I read a ton of news about this country that never makes the papers here. Do they no longer do any real journalism? It is kind of frightening that I seem to know more about what is going on than they do.

brouhaha is the press' reaction. They are so pissed off at Scott saying that they didn't do their jobs and question more. They are so outraged, it's funny.

16. Bush's defenders say the media has NOT
been lighthanded on reporting Bush's lies/failures/secrets.
I remember the storm of bullshit in the entire 8 years of Clinton,s administration-not a week without a new "scandal", and then another before that one went away. Where is the special investigator for GWB?
Where is the impeachment hearing, the lawsuit?

I doubt if my opinion of this administration could get any lower, but I may yet be proved wrong.
