4. If they calculated inflation according to how they did it in 1980 under Carter, inflation would be..
something like this:

Roughly, 11.5 percent annual inflation. It isn't 1980 bad, but it's the worst since 1980.

5. you have to count all the money in circulation now, and we don't know because
we don't publish the M3 index anymore. Inflation is more like 20%-30% right now.

7. The 1980 methodology does count in M3. The same guy keeps track of M3 now:
http://www.shadowstats.com/alternate_data

The first graph is a graph of M3 if it were still reported. As you can see, there was a reason the Fed stopped reporting M3.

8. what galls me
Is Whole Foods charges $7.99 a lb for their salad bar.

Other grocery store chains around here charge only $4.99, including one that is considered to be for the upper income market.

9. You might be able to grow lettuce in pots on a balcony
or window sill. You might not get enough to feed a family, but you could grow some. And if you have room for a garden you could grow your own lettuce there. I grew some in pots last winter (here in in L.A. it's a winter vegetable). I could have grown more, had I known to keep replanting a few heads each week. All you need is dirt, sun, water, pots and seeds.
