...Depression expected to become a tropical storm as it approaches
the coast of Nicaragua...

at 5 am PDT...1200 UTC....the government of Nicaragua has issued a
Tropical Storm Warning for the Pacific coast of Nicaragua...and the
government of Honduras has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the
Pacific coast of Honduras.

Tropical storm warnings are now in effect for the Pacific coast of
Central America from Costa Rica to El Salvador. A Tropical Storm
Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected within
the warning area within the next 24 hours.

"Current oceanic and atmospheric trends indicate that we will likely have an active Atlantic basin hurricane season," said William Gray, who is beginning his 25th year forecasting hurricanes at Colorado State University.

The team's forecast now anticipates 15 named storms forming in the Atlantic basin between June 1 and Nov. 30. Eight of the storms are predicted to become hurricanes, and of those eight, four are expected to develop into intense or major hurricanes (Saffir/Simpson category 3-4-5) with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater. Long-term averages are 9.6 named storms, 5.9 hurricanes and 2.3 intense hurricanes per year.

Damn my spelling this morning is #@&*&!@

7. The forming is really not unusual
What I think is unusual is how fast it seems to be organizing. Normally upper level winds in late May or not very favorable. But we seem to be in a late July-August type pattern kinda early.

11. Thanks
We're always OK but lots of poor people living in the hills and valleys won't be that lucky. We'll have several damaged roads and bridges.
