The hottest May day is set to emerge in Macedonia, as forecasters are predicting tropical heat with temperature up to 38 degrees C. The extremely high temperatures, unusual for May, pose a serious threat to humans' health. The number of medical check-ups is on the rise. Doctors advised the citizens, especially those chronically ill, to stay at home and consume large quantities of water. In the past 15 years, a total of 12 consecutive hottest years have been registered at global level. Heat waves are likely to occur worldwide, particularly in the Western Hemisphere, in the aftermath of global climate change. Also expected is the rise in mortality (death rate) and morbidity in connection with high temperatures, particularly in urban areas. Forecasters say there will be a slight drop in temperatures as of Thursday, with rain showers and thunders after noon. The heatwave increases the threat of wildfires. Crises Management Center cautioned the citizens to take extra precautions while conducting activities in forests and not to use flammable materials that might cause blaze. The Center called on the citizens to immediately report any blaze or smoke and notify the relevant authorities or dial the emergency number 195. The Center also calls upon the citizens not to misuse the emergency phone number for false alert.

goes past them. Originally, they were mined, I believe, for limestone--the storage is a secondary use. But they are right by the highway.
