Mark Crispin Miller just said we "Must Be Prepared to Resist" if the Repugs try to steal.....
.... another election, or try some draconian act after they lose in November. (Miller is on with Mike Malloy). He then said that he didn't want to elaborate on what that means, given the times we live in.
In other words, protest signs and angry emails won't do it. Civil disobedience and shutting this country down, ala our amis francaises, is what it will take.

mark says they can't afford to lose the election. and we need to be prepared.

"i don't say this because i want people to freak out, or stay home and lock the door. on the contrary. i say this because it's crucial for us to keep our heads and have our eyes wide open. if these things take us by surprise we are that much more vulnerable to being manipulated, pushed around, maybe with fatal consequences. if, however, we can be well aware of the nature of the people in charge and not be surprised by the steps they take, we'll be strengthened by that kind of preparation. and we'll be able to resist. and i'm afraid, at this point, resistance is something we should all be thinking about very seriously." --mcm

4. Under the current administration
one could be labeled a terrorist and made to "disappear" for even discussing such a matter and that is why he won't elaborate.

It is up to us to be smart enough to figure out what he means..........

8. And then- maybe he is a little coward too.
DId you say what you mean? - we say what we men, all of us.

And if he can't- then he shouldn't say anything at all.

Up to us to elaborate -elaborate what??

This is right and wrong time -

21. Disagree -- he should say what he CAN say.
Keeping silent isn't preferable. It's not either/or -- sometimes we need to wiggle around a bit.

22. Excuse me! Do not be calling Mark Crispin Miller a coward. Have you read his books?
Have you heard his speeches? He is about as far from a coward as one can be! Don't be ridiculous.

6. Unless the theft is so hamhanded that millions of people are convinced . . .
That it's taken place -- and I mean more convincing than having the Supreme Court step in and resolve it in violation of 230 years of precedent -- then people won't take to the streets.

Unless (presumably) Obama crushes McCain, it will be close enough to steal. If we're talking one state making the difference (Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania), then they'll steal that state and there'll be enough uncertainty whether theft has even take place to damp down any effective protest.

So we have to be sure Obama crushes McCain.

The theft and assaults on the constitution will have to be massive to result in the level of revolt necessary to nonviolently shut the country down (mass strikes, mass marches, etc).

I don't know tons about it, but weren't 3-4% of the votes in 2006 switched from D to R? If that is true, then a 3-4% shift will let them win w/o actually bringing up too much antipathy. Well, not anytime soon when the margin will be 10%+ but when things settle down they can start stealing elections again.

It sounds paranoid, but what I expect to happen is not to get 2008 stolen (that would be too obvious and probably not possible anyway) but the dems to sweep everything in 2008 then sometime in 2009 we get hit again and the public starts to vote in the GOP again to 'keep them safe' because the GOP will be running on a platform that the dems wouldn't do enough about terror or wiretaps. It may not happen, but if it does I am not going to be suprised nor am I going to shout down anyone else who worries about it.

12. Mark Crispin Miller, said our protests should encompass
protesting the media, and ask them why they haven't been reporting the correct news to the American people. Sounds very logical to me.

14. Hasn't worked yet
People have been protesting the media for a long time, asking them to investigate vote fraud, 9/11, or the buildup to Iraq. For the most part they either ignore or ridicule these groups.

Ask Sibel Edmonds about the willingness of the media to do their jobs.

16. I want to believe that what you said is so much bullshit...
...but then again, American Idol still garners more votes than even the 2008 election might pull in.

Still, maybe enough Democrats are motivated enough by now to take to the streets and get some shit done old school.

24. No amount of fraud
is going to be enough to turn back the anti-GOP avalanche that is coming. 2006 was a tiny little taste of the complete wipeout they're going to face this year. If the GOP gets out of this election with 140 Congressmen and 40 Senators, they'll have dodged a bullet.

If you study the history of the now-defunct Whig party, the parallels are striking. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the GOP is no longer able to field a national candidate by 2012.
