Harvey Korman has died. RIP Funny man!
Edited on Fri May-30-08 01:56 AM by 48percenter
Comic powerhouse Harvey Korman dies

Korman died at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said. He had undergone several major operations.

"He was a brilliant comedian and a brilliant father," daughter Kate Korman said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "He had a very good sense of humor in real life."

1. I'm sorry. I don't know who that is.
People always die who I have never heard of.

2. Probably best known either as one of Carol Burnett's sidekicks...
...along with Tim Conway and Lyle Wagoner, or as "Hedley Lamarr" in Mel Brooks' movie "Blazing Saddles." But he did much much more than that.

13. "Now go do that voodoo
that you do sooooo well!"

My Mardi Gras 2008 party had a Mel Brooks theme. I dressed as Lily von Shtupp. I and the man who dressed as Hedley did an impromptu version of the scene where the two plan the downfall of Black Bart.

RIP Harvey Koreman

My wife rolls her eyes because I can tell her what everybody's going to say just before they say it.

21. The nerve of people...not being known to you.
Harvey Korman was absolutely brilliant in every possible way.

The scene with him shooting paperclips and wearing wolf fangs in High Anxiety is probably the funniest scene in cinematic history.

I loved him...absolutely loved him.

6. The coolest thing about Harvey Korman...
...was that he was completely unable to stop laughing during sketches on the Carol Burnett Show.

Darn, I wish I had a copy of Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety" right now...

9. Goodbye, oh great Gazoo!
The voice of the little Martian whom Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble encountered.

And the principal in Lord Love A Duck.

And many more characters.

He was one of the first actors I ever learned the name of when I was a kid.

10. Those lovable dum-dums
The Great Gazoo is a character from The Flintstones animated series. He first appeared on the show on October 29, 1965. He has many similarities to Mr. Mxyzptlk of the Superman comics, and may have been inspired by him. He is a tiny, green, floating alien, voiced by Harvey Korman, having been exiled to Earth from his home planet Zatox as punishment for having invented a doomsday machine, a weapon of immense destructive power, and was discovered by Fred and Barney when his flying saucer crashed. His invention was a button which would destroy the universe if pressed, though he insists he made it on a whim with no intent of using it.

I'm going to break out my Mel Brooks collection this weekend in honor of a comedic genius. If only I had DVDs of the Carol Burnett Show.

This is a tragedy.

17. RIP Harvey
You provided me and my family hours of hilarious comedy over the years. We were and still are huge fans of The Carol Burnett Show. You start laughing just knowing Harvey and Tim were going to start laughing and lose control....What a Hoot!

22. He left us so much!
I loved the way he'd break up or just barely control his own laughter during a skit. :+

He was simply brilliant.

May he Rest in Peace.
