4. I'm Looking Forward To The Wingnut Calls...

Anyone else need any?

They're gonna be so busy trying to trash him, they'll completely forget about Father Flager. Such a shame.

I think I'm suffering from some sort of Stockholm syndrome...I'm starting to feel some empathy toward Scotty.

5. strange feeling. It is similar to that weird feeling I had for Ashcroft
after finding out that he stood up to Andy Card and others on the constitution. I N E V E R ever anticipated being grateful for Ashcroft. But, there it was.

7. This Is Partial...Not Total Contrition...
Note how he will not state how he felt at the time he told the lies...only that he was told to tell the lies. What he speaks now is two years outside the fishbowl and with a lot of hurt feelings. I can see how conflicted he is and can believe there was some conflict them...but it appears more he was pissed at the turf wars and not being able to control the message as opposed to the message he was delivering.

I give the man credit for speaking out and doing it now...and I feel a sincerity in what he's saying, however, he constantly refers to "if you read the book"...and that tells me he's still on the hussle. But let's see how this plays out. If the RW spin keeps pushing at him, will he push back with more dirt?

Also, I'm curious who will come out and support him. He's being hung out to dry right now and I think that is also generating a lot of sympathy. I still remember him showing up on the Daily Show just after his resignation and sounding as obstinate as ever...I am giving him the benefit of a doubt, but the cynic in me just can't buy into it all.

9. Of course, he's not going to "tell all" about his feelings
Edited on Fri May-30-08 08:05 AM by fed_up_mother
He was uncomfortable, he started to suspect, blah, blah, blah. Like finding out you married a monster, but first you make every excuse because you don't want to believe you were that stupid. He's probably still doubting himself a lot.

I'm not trying to imply victim status, but am trying to get into his mind. KWIM? This isn't the person I knew in Texas (this isn't the person I dated...)

10. He's Torn Between Professional And Personal
He keeps saying how he still respects and like booosh and he's gone out of his way to avoid saying booosh specifically lied to him (even on the NIE)...but you can see he looks betrayed and it must sting even more when he turns around and there's another former "friend" or co-worker whose trashing him. He's definitely coming off as a victim here...and I tend to think that's what's generating a lot of the sympathy here on DU.

Cheers...

6. "selling the war to the american people"
That, in one phrase, sums up the war crimes they are all guilty of.

The DOD illegal propaganda, the torture, the renditions, everything

8. Haven't watched in a LONG time...stunned & discouraged by the stupidity
It seems Americans are dumber now than even 6 months ago. Very disappointing.
