Comic powerhouse Harvey Korman dies at 81
By BOB THOMAS – 6 hours ago
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Harvey Korman, the tall, versatile comedian who won four Emmys for his outrageously funny contributions to "The Carol Burnett Show" and played a conniving politician to hilarious effect in "Blazing Saddles," died Thursday. He was 81.
Korman died at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said. He had undergone several major operations.

1. I was so sad to hear of Korman's passing.
Edited on Fri May-30-08 10:38 AM by AndyA
That man was hilarious! I can't even begin to recall all the times I laughed so hard because of him my insides hurt.

He was great on The Carol Burnett Show. What a classic. He was perfect as Eunice's husband, and I always loved it when he started laughing out of character because of what others were doing, normally Tim Conway, who often did things impromptu that weren't in the script.

The world has lost a great man, but thank goodness he left behind a ton of work for us to remember him by.

RIP, Harvey.

24. I had to google hornswogglars,
Comes from Charles and the Chocolate Factory.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornswoggler
In the novel, Roald Dahl depicts Hornswogglers as vicious, dangerous creatures rooting from Loompaland. It is one of four species (Snozzwangers, Hornswogglers, Whangdoodles, and Vermicious knids) that threaten the Oompa-Loompa species.

Hornswoggle means to trick or decieve.

4. "Blazing Saddles" was The. Best. Comedy. Ever. The first R-rated movie I saw
(and I was too young then, but my parents wanted to see it at the drive-in).

What an INCREDIBLE cast; just the best casting ever.

What a loss; I've already responded to any of these threads I've seen but it hurts that much.

God bless you--and I think He will appreciate your talents as much as we did, Mr. Korman.

10. RIP
This is the best scene from Blazing Saddles:

Taggart: What do you want me to do, sir?
Hedley Lamarr: I want you to round up every vicious criminal and gunslinger in the west. Take this down.
(Taggart looks for a pen and paper while Hedley talks)
Hedley Lamarr: I want rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and Methodists.
Taggart: (finding pen and paper) Could you repeat that, sir?

20. He did. The first R-rated movie I ever saw (I was 15, w/parents)
and that was the only thing that startled me.

Otherwise I was bent over laughing so hard I couldn't even eat my popcorn.

We saw it at the drive-in, too. It sucks to get old... (siiiigh)

I saw it listed on HBO the other day as--I kid not--PG13.

The times, they are a-changin'!
