9. I still haven't decided what to make of Scotty's book, his interviews, the timing, etc.

Many are out quickly to praise him. Seemingly an equal number to condemn. Until he puts up some chips (testifies) I really have no idea what to make of him, his actions and their timing.

get taken out of that book to make a truly informed decision.

However, right now, we need to take what we can get, and damning Stupid as an arrogant and ignorant jerk is what we can get from a former insider.

15. As for how many lives Scottie could have saved...

I know the kind of person he was when he took the position and started shilling for Bush. I'm surrounded by people like him. But I think the weight of the dead body count in Iraq probably reached a tipping point for him. In other words, he is a man with a conscience. We should pay close attention, because, whatever it was that finally convinced him to step up and do what he did, is a process we need to start applying to everyone else who was trapped by the incredibly sadistic and self-destructive Republican philosophy which has dominated our country in the last ten years.
