The problem with "democracy"...
Edited on Sat May-31-08 10:29 AM by LynnTheDem
bUsh loves to declare he's "spreading democracy" by force. Skipping the total contradiction in that, the trick is bush's definition of "democracy".

To George bUsh's regime, "democracy" means the little people voting in US-approved, US-friendly governments. If they are not US-friendly & US-approved, the bUsh regime kidnaps the elected leader(s), demonizes the elected leader(s), hires terrorists to stir up unrest within the nation(s) to turn the little people against their elected government(s), or publicly threatens to remove the elected leader(s) by various means.

Problem is, most little people around the world don't like us very much nowadays, and the last thing they freely elect are US-friendly governments.

There's the problem.

Democracy -as in the true, dictionary definition of the word- is the very last thing the rightwing, especially the bUsh regime, wants in the world. When the majority of people of the world don't like you, it just isn't likely they're going to freely elect a government that does.

It's that simple.

6. We live in a plutocratic republic. Our voting system is window dressing
just as Patrick Henry predicted during the ratification debates.

2. christian Democracy Is Wrong
christian democracy at the point of a gun is HARDLY what I would call TRUE democracy.

The bush regime has been running roughshod over "democracy" his entire term, while it seemed that America was asleep.

Surely the leader of America could NOT do something this heinous - defying EVERYTHING America once stood for.

The only good that will come out of bushes failed terms(s) as president is that he has woken a sleeping giant. A giant that has powers FAR beyond those of corrupt politicians.

For THAT we should give him thanks.

5. Such Pessimism!!!
Yeah, I'm still chapped that I never got that pony, but you never know. Every time there's a knock at the door my heart beats just a little faster. Any day now....

On a more series note, do you really think * or "Teh Dick" believe anything they say? I've never listened to either of them speak so much as try to decode the stream of BS. Usually it's easy enough - the exact opposite of whatever they're spouting - NCLB, Healthy Forests, Clean Skies, WMDs, torture, spying on citizens, todays radio address, etc..., but sometimes, it's just not that easy.

However, like so many of my fellow citizens, I've found that taking the opposing stance on every issue raised by the malAdministration is always the correct choice.

Unfortunately, I find it impossible to feel any gratitude. They've made it easy, but it's going to be decades before we see the extent of the damage they've done. No religion has a concept of hell that holds an appropriate punishment for that bunch.
