Sen. Barbara Boxer's Democratic Radio Address - EPIC FAIL?
Right now, many of our states, including my home state, are leading. They have the will. Our mayors are leading. They have the will. Religious leaders have urged us to act now as well. They reminded me of a wonderful quote that motivates me to work as hard as I can for as long as it takes to responsibly address global warming. These words stay with me: "When God created the first man, he took him around to all the trees in the Garden of Eden and said to him "see my handiwork, how beautiful and choice they are. Be careful not to ruin and destroy my world, for if you do ruin it, there is no one to repair it after you."

If Boxer was implying that these words actually appeared in Genesis, well...

1. That's a stretch.
She only said it's a quote, not a Biblical quote.

2. In the Bible it DOES say "Hurt not the earth ..."; perhaps some pastor embellished a little ...
stranger things have happened

4. That's why I put a question mark at the end of the title
I figured at least one of my fellow DUers would bitch-slap me if the OP was itself an EPIC FAIL.

5. The phrase itself is tired...

8. I agree!
That's why I was startled by her choice of words in the Democratic Radio Address.

7. The biblical language is that "God gave man dominion over the earth"
But the term "dominion" is often misinterpreted and confused with "domination". They do not mean the same thing. Dominion actually means "stewardship". Or in other words, caretakers.

Jesus alluded to this in His parable of the vineyard. His Dad was the "landlord", and He left us here to keep the planet in good order.

And in Revelation it says that God will "destroy them who destroy the earth".

So what Boxer said was correct, even if not a word for word transcription of Genesis.
