The contrasts are so sharp. And it's not the age thing that I think stands out in greatest relief; it's the temperment and personality thing, and the stark difference on issues.

I can't see McCain getting the best of Obama in a debate or joint townhall. Obama has great presence. McCain does not. Obama is articulate. McCain is not. Obama has terrific self-control. McCain famously does not. Obama is a very intelligent person. McCain is not.

It'll be fun to watch.

2. I just hope the Republicans don't pull a switcheroo at the last moment, with McCain bowing out
before or at the Convention. It will be interesting, however...

4. Well, they had better hurry and do something.. the reason for the Dems to come together
was to fight agaisnt McCain who has had months in the clear of any opposition.. If you pull a bait and switch at the last minute that nobody knows.. it doesn't bode well for the candidate.. Really, look at Obama when he came into the Senate in 2004... he ended up getting an opportunity of an opponent caught with his pants down.... He won an overwhelming victory.

5. If he bowed out, in favor of whom? . . .
Sadly if you're a 'Lican, McCain is the strongest they've got right now. He'd be even stronger if he denounced Bush and the war (he'd gain more votes than he lost, IMO), but I think he's past doing that, even if he had the guts.

And anyone they tried to replace him with would be worse. Rudy "Ick" Giuliani? Mike "Only Wackos" Huckabee? Mitt "Hypocrite" Romney?

I guess they could try Colin Powell, if he was interested, but he'd get shellacked too (Can you spell "United Nations"?).

6. It will be fun to watch but...
remember the debates between bush and Kerry?? bushie looked like a fool (not hard to do) next to Kerry and, yet after the debate, many of the pundits said, "bush won the debate." Go figure.
