I think the speculators may have overplayed their hands. There will be an increasing chorus of "get the leeches" and a few may end up experiencing unpleasant fates. So much of this is clearly a scam.

On the other hand, I'm all for expensive gasoline if it drives socioeconomic change to some sort of sustainable future. I just don't want slimy fuckwads to continue accumulating so much wealth that they utterly control sovereign states (even more than they do now).
