We been screwed!
By my rough calculation, the US has spent over $5.5 Trillion on "Defense" since 1998.

Since that time, we have been successfully attacked by 19 guys with box cutters, and we have not caught the mastermind behind that attack.
(I know..... that's buying the govt's explanation in its entirity.)

Somebody attacked members of our government with Anthrax.... again, no arrests.

The US defeated a ragtag bunch of religious crazies in Afghanistan.... oh... wait... they're back!

And....

Our Army and Marine Corps - personnel and equipment - have been exhausted by a non-country with a rag-tag insurgency.

$5.5 Trillion in mostly borrowed funds, and we don't have shit!

We paid for a Porsche, but we got a Yugo.

Oh yeah... "Support the Troops"

2. Yugo: the disposable car.
Like a Bic lighter, when it runs out of juice, you just throw it away and buy another one!

You are right, we have spent a fortune and have nothing to show for it except the bills for Bush's folly, which are forthcoming.

Bush uncle benefits from war spending
By WALTER F. ROCHE JR. , Los Angeles Times

WASHINGTON — As President Bush embarks on a new effort to shore up public support for the war in Iraq, an
uncle of the chief executive is collecting $2.7 million in cash and stock from the recent sale of a company that profited
from the war.

A report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission shows that William H.T. Bush collected a little less than
$1.9 million in cash plus stock valued at more than $800,000 as a result of the sale of Engineered Support Systems Inc. to
DRS Technologies of New Jersey. The $1.7 billion deal closed Jan. 31. Both businesses have extensive military contracts.

The elder Bush was a director of Engineered Support Systems. Recent SEC filings show he was paid cash and DRS stock
in exchange for shares and options he obtained as a director.

looks more pathetically absurd with each passing day. Everything they have touched has turned to shit. There's not a damn thing they can call a 'victory'. He's beginning to make Viet Nam look like an overwhelming success by comparison.

26. Security was never the intention
Follow where the money's gone. Most of it's gone into the pockets of a very wealthy elite who give big donations to the Republicans and, not coincidently, have made out like robber barons because of the mess in Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran (assuming Bush isn't impeached. One thing we know about teh guy by now, he doesn't give a shit about public opinion or Congress. He's got his heart set on attacking Iran and unless he's impeached, he'll do it).

29. That's why I say, if we're going to invade someone, let's invade the Cayman Islands
Every trillion dollars we now owe has gone into somebody's bank account. And the nasty head crooks in Washington still have the nerve to talk about tax cuts. Screwn? Gawd, yes. The intelligence we paid for couldn't see the threats. The defense we paid for couldn't defend us. But don't ask questions. You're anti-American if you don't agree to blindly fork over trillions more. No money for veterans, but money for Star Wars. Why on earth should we think that boondoggle will work? Nothing else they have done has turned out to be what we paid for. Definitely a Yugo.

32. Trillions of Dollars Spent...
...and we still have American veterans walking our streets homeless, very often severely mentally ill and sometimes posing a danger to society as they walk the streets.

...we still have American veterans having to fight tooth and nail to get the disability rating that they deserve, when our Armed Forces go out of their way to give our wounded troops the least amount, rather than the maximum,

...we have American troops who are going over to fight and die in a war for oil based on lies by a miscreant who was not man enough to complete his own military duty, and the Army refuses to pay their signing bonuses (which are agreed upon in a legal contract).

...we have the families of American soldiers all on welfare because our troops are not paid a living wage.

...we have Chimpy McFlightSuit declaring "Mission Accomplished" back in 2003 so that he can legally cut funding and combat pay to our deployed soldiers.

...we have deplorable conditions in our medical facilities. ALL of them.

...we have soldiers who have to re-enlist and re-deploy just so they can continue to have health coverage for their families (one such soldier died the other day. He was 25.).

...we have a government who refuses to expose the brain-dead populace of the United States of America what the TRUE cost of such a war is by putting their money where their mouths and motives are and INITIATING A DRAFT for more cannon fodder. Instead, they re-deploy the same soldiers over and over and over and over. There are some in Iraq right now who have been deployed for at least two straight years. Did you know that?
