GOP Writing Off Two Key Senate Seats
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/06/16/gop-writing-off-two-key-senate-seats/
At yesterday’s Christian Science Monitor forum — the same venue where he upgraded the GOP’s goal to a potential three-seat loss — NRSC chairman John Ensign was asked point-blank if the party was giving up on the open seats they currently hold in Virginia and New Mexico, where the Democratic nominees are way ahead of the Republicans in current polling.

Ensign said bluntly: “You don’t waste money on races that don’t need it or you can’t win.”

Pollster.com shows just how much ground the GOP would have to make up in Virginia and New Mexico. It’s probably a good idea for the Republican Party to cut their loses and focus their attention/limited resources on races that they at least have a shot at. It’s just amazing to hear that NRSC openly concede they’re in such dire straits.

3. I experience a major gag reflex every time I read or hear Elizabeth Dole's name
I think the lack of enthusiasm among GOPers for McCodger could result in major setbacks for their party in November in the congressional races. McCain will not only go down in flames, but I think he will bring the party down around him.

22. Bush is the one who took the party down
I kinda feel sorry for McCain. That poor guy just keeps on being used and used and used by the Bushites.

This is going to be a rout so bad Diebold will only be able to turn it into a 40-point defeat.

2 years ago at this time both Senators were rethuglicans; now it appears that starting in January both Senators will be Democratic!

13. NM and VA, don't let 'em put you to sleep, lol!
I can only imagine that they're waxing defeatist so openly regarding the poll situations in New Mexico and Virginia in the hope that maybe the Democratic parties in both states might unconsciously throttle back a bit.

That's how far I trust a puke; they're always up to something.

15. Damn it! They need to waste money on long-shot races! You can't bankrupt the NRSC any other way!
The NRSC wasting money on races they are going to lose is a good thing!

but we need to fight hard to get Slick Gordo (Gordon Smith) out of office in Oregon. He's been one of Bush's top yes men in the US Senate.

20. When You Can't Deliver The "Juice"
The GOOP really thought they had created a "conservative majority" after the '04 elections...they'd control both houses for years and be able to do as they saw fit. They set up the K Street project as well as a network of PACs and other slush funds that exploded under its own incompetence. The GOOP blew it...lost their majority and, with it, lost the ability to deliver for the big money like they used to.

There isn't much a repugnican senator can deliver...the only credit they have is the things they DIDN'T do. Add this ineptness with the absolute corruption snd unpopularity of the boooosh regime and a party that has splintered along all sorts of lines...and the money is sitting on the side. It's the "whatcha done for me lately" world...and there isn't much any repugnican can say they have...or will in the foreseeable future. Sucks to be them.
