6. Gore is kicking butt and telling it like it is
and why it needs to change! He's the only one who has the authority to talk on issues like the importance of elections (note, he didn't limit by saying "voting") and the global climate change within a political arena.

21. don't be too sure
Gore would unite the party like nobody else could. Hillary would not even unite the party because some would think Obama sold out to take her as VP. Gore would offend NOBODY! Gore has experience, he has huge positives, he is fighting for an ideal everyone can relate to that has an even remote chance of ever voting Dem in their lifetime, and////last but not least////he is the best person Obama could select, regardless of the political factors.

Do I expect it? Hell, the odds are against any one single possibility. But Obama is going to nominate SOMEONE. Whomever gets the nomination in August is a less-than-50% chance now.

So why not Gore? Obama/Gore would be perfect.

37. They had a "what might have been"
parody with the real Al Gore on Saturday Night Live a few years back (I remember one part with him saying something like, "and because we have broken our reliance on foreign oil and gas is at 9 cents a gallon, I am announcing a government bailout of ExxonMobil, because we know if the shoe was on the other foot, they would certainly do the same for the American people.”)

16. I couldn't tear my eyes from the screen.
He was phenominal. He brought down the house. I think David Corn is right... having Al there is a constant reminder to Americans of what could have been. I know that's what I think of when I see either Gore or Kerry. My heart breaks a little.

On a side note, Do you think Gore misses it? Do you think he misses the massive crowds and the energy they give off?

38. I think there would have been no war whatsoever
If Gore had been the one that came into office in January of 2001, there likely would have been a small headline on page A5 a few months later, "Suspected terrorist bin Laden captured by Special Forces in Afghanistan" and a few quotes from Republicans in Congress about how we shouldn't be engaged in this type of activity on foreign soil and how it was reckless foreign policy.

Then, a few months later, we'd have gotten another small headline in September of 2001, "FBI detains 20 suspected hijackers" and we'd have had Fox News up in arms about how the Gore White House was profiling Saudis and demanding they not be deported because the Saudis are known to torture criminals.

With the Taliban sanctions continuing from the Clinton years, they eventually would have folded, possibly creating a scenario for UN intervention there to stabilize the country. But, no out and out invasion & overthrow of the government.
