Might John McCain be nothing more than a big red herring?
I do not trust the Bushes. Not just the current Criminal-In-Chief, but the structure that has been in place for more than 30 years when George H W Bush was the Director of Central Intelligence starting in 1976. When Carter won the election later that year, Bush was not asked to stay on and run the CIA. Then came the Iran hostage deal in which many believed GHWB to have been the major negotiator on the part of the Reagan Cabal who dealt with Iran to delay the release of hostages which lead to the certain defeat of Carter. Bush was given the VP spot under Reagan even though he severely critized many of his positions. It later came to light that Reagan was suffering from Alzheimers Disease and dementia. Many think that Bush was ruling things from the VP's office (sound familiar?). Bush had his turn in the #1 slot and was defeated during his run for re-election, at which time he bagan grooming his son, Georgie, for the office.

So now we have suffered through 8 years of the worst President in US history and a Democratic victory is almost guaranteed this November. The Bush's have run and ruled on a platform of fear and tyranny. So now what in 2008 the Bush reign will just end with no fanfare? Republican control of office rests on the tired old shoulders of a nearly senile John McCain?

Am I nuts to think that we are being lulled to sleep, my friend, by the idea of an almost certain victory over the repiggies? Am I crazy to be wary of another October Suprise, or worse, that would have the current Bush remain in office? What if McCain picks Jeb as his running mate, or the party picks Jebidiah (just kidding, it's John Edward Bush) to run in the place of McCain who steps down due to "health reasons".

I dont want to be "Surprised" by the antics of another Bush around the time of another election. We all know that Bush used 9/11 to rule this country by dialing back civil rights and liberties and installing a police state to further his corpo-fascistic dreams. Many thousands of us believe that he, or those within his regime, may have planned or carried out the events of that fateful day. I am not here to debate 9/11, but when added to the Iran-Hostage deal it shows the lengths to which Bushs will go to obtain, hold, and rule by.

So the hopes of the Republicans are going to be held and guided by the old, shakey hand of John McCain? I'm nuts to think that Bush might be planning something ELSE for THIS election?

Dont be surprised when it does happen again. Even Bush said, "fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again". Dont be fooled again.
What are we/you going to do when the unthinkable happens and we see the last name "Bush" in the White House next January 10th? I dont trust the Bushes any further than I can throw them (and with my bad back, I shouldn't be throwing anyone)

I dont like what I smell

(just like they did with Dole in 1996) and biding their time until 2012. Meanwhile, the whore press will be screaming how bad things are under Obama...who will then be impeached over a parking violation or something.

Enter Jebbie, right on cue, to "save America".

Don't think for a second the Repukes aren't capable of quickly sweeping away any gains we might get this year. So many of us were giddy after Watergate and the '74 and '76 elections (some were even writing the GOP's obituary), but look at what happened in 1980. We won the House, Senate, and Presidency in 1992, but that lasted all of 2 years...until the advent of the "Contract on America." :banghead:

11. Like that line from the movie "Aliens"
when Ripley wondered about where the aliens came from and said "who's laying these eggs?". Bishop, the artificial person answered "I don't know. Must be something we haven't seen yet."

I suspect that something is in the works that will catch us by complete surprise. All that evil brain power in the GOP including that of Herr Roverer is probably on hyperdrive. It also reminds me of another line from "Aliens" on how to handle the GOP.

"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

14. I JUST said this to my son after hearing Gore/Obama tonight
He pointed out that I was not for Obama at first (Edwards my first pick) and I admited to the cynicism Obama spoke of in his speech.

BUT i aded that it's hard to get excited and hope for the good guys to win when the bad guys have ben running things so long. I just don't expect them to go without a false flag or a martial law or something evil up their sleeves. I fear for Obama's safety, and just seeing Gore tonight reminded me of all the elections we've had stolen for decades... probably longer than I have been alive, for sure.

I hope that we're all wrong...

Yes, they do have compelling reasons to maintain control of the Executive/DOJ?CIA/FBI and the Pentagon. Yes, they have committed war-crimes and treason.

But, the institutional forces are aligned against them now. They've lost the argument and they won't have the numbers to make it close enough to steal the election. Another "event" will not have the desired effect that 9/11 had...I think, quite the opposite. There's too much knowledge that's been exposed over the past 6 years to allow another case of being "surprised". I suppose their most effective course of action will be to target certain Democrats with blackmail (or worse) to impede or derail the wheels of justice. Barring that, their best option may be a wholesale flight to a country that has no extradition treaties with the US.

If Obama is serious about fixing what ails this country, he's not going to follow Clinton's lead and bury the treason and the wanton crimes against our Constitution....he's going to aggressively expose the crimes and force this country to understand our recent American history, in terms of war profiteering greed, oil dependence for personal $ and power, and a general plan to replace our Constitutional Democracy with a Dictatorship. That's really the only way to save this country from the cancer that's been growing for the past 50 years or so.
