Laura Bush, First Librarian
Her resume is odd..

She graduated from SMU (Dallas) in 1968..

then supposedly she taught in Dallas AND Houston
"for a few years".. most bios say she taught in Houston for 2 years

then went back to school U of T (Austin) for her Masters

she apparently got it in 1973...does it take FIVE YEARS??

then worked as a librarian in Austin..

She met Georgie in '77 and quit as soon as he proposed..

So.. this VAST educational/library experience she's touted to have just could NOt be so..

If she taught in both Dallas and Houston, she could not have spent much time perfecting her teaching skills before she bailed out of the class room and went back to school herself to try the librarian thing..

How long does it take to get a masters degree?

Mzzz laura was a 30-ish "spinster" who was an acceptable replacement for the former fiancee that GeorgiePoo had been engaged to..(she was Jewish, and apparently did not set well with the parents..)

he needed a wife to get into the family business, and Laura would do..

It always irks the hell out of me when people play up her FABULOUS CAREER as a teacdher/librarian./.

As near as I can tell she had MULTIPLE positions, and never stayed in any one school/library very long..and jettisoned her brilliant "career" as soon as she could.

A few years work as a beginner teacher and then a beginner librarian..31+ years ago, certainly does NOT make her an "expert"..

2. Hate to tell you but five years for a Masters in Librarianship is considered a fast track.

I once applied for a MS Lib. It was like the
Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Those folks is
pod people.

The professional goal of a librarian is to
achieve the highest level of mediocrity
achievable in a .... mmm... a decade or so of
doing absolutely nothing. Extra points go to
those who have memorized the Library of Congress
Subject Titles and have a huge collection of
natural wool macrame hangers.

5. And that only proves that she had even LESS actual
"working time" for her brilliant career..

I'm betting that once she had that teaching degree, she found out that, she did not LIKE teaching and may not have even liked little kids, so going back to school was her "new plan"..and once stuck in a library, she was only too eager to snag a man..even a dolt like George..

6. Hey I'm on your side. My SO had to deal with 'professional' libratians as

as both a union president and a library assistant.

Needless to say she was not well liked by her superiors.

The very notion of Librarian as a profession in this day
and age beggars belief.

Ten year old children have better research skills and
they don't earn $80,000 a year for sitting four hours
a day behind a desk in a library foyer and ordering
a handful of new books a year.

3. Grad school normally takes 1-2 years, depending on the field,
and whether or not the student is full time or not. As irritating as it is to hear about her so-called expertise she's no different than a lot of doctor's wives who suddenly become experts at running things in which they have no background, due in large part to who she married. Departments in hospitals, company boards, are just a few things off the top of my head.

"pets", then start claiming that they are feminists because they "work"..:grr:..."sitting on boards" for hundreds of thousands a year, and dressing up for charity events is not 'real work"..It's a game of paid dress-up..

A stay-at-home mother who teaches her daughters to not take any shit from her brothers is more of a feminist than these overly husband-centric arm-decorations.

9. One of my roommates was a librarian.
I was working at the telephone company at the time as a long distant operator and making more money than her (union Job). She decided she wanted more money and applied at the telephone company. She couldn't pass the tests, some of which required good memory. I didn't find her to be all that smart and neither does Laura seem to be very smart to me.

10. Laura Bush is a self centered phony.
She presents a fake persona for the public that the Corp Media promotes. She is, in reality, a mean spirited, selfish, arrogant, ignorant person just like her husband. She has promoted RWing causes such as Anti-Stem Cell Funding and has campaigned for RW Candidates. She champions causes such as Women's Rights in Afghanistan and schools for Iraqis and Afghans but it is merely lip service because she does nothing about these causes nor does she contribute any of her own money towards them. Laura Bush is a vapid, phony person and should be shunned yet she remains popular with the millions in America because the Corp Media goes along with her charade.
