Sad Reality-I'm SO Tired Of This..."Rove Would Be Interviewed In Private Without Oath To Tell Truth"

Rove to testify? Time tips its hand.

Tue Jun 17, 2008 at 10:15:10 AM PDT

We answered yesterday's Rove teaser question by saying "time will tell."

Today, time clues us in, via the subscription only CQ Congress Daily:

House Judiciary Committee Democrats on Monday renewed their demand that former White House political adviser Karl Rove testify publicly on the politicization of the Justice Department but suggested they may accept a compromise in which Rove would be interviewed in private without taking an oath to tell the truth.

43. I expected so much more from Conyers... what a complete let down...
He held better hearings in the basement when the Republican's were in control.

47. Yeah, what a reversal.
Conyers looked like a hero in those mock hearings... but now that he actually has the power to do something, he folds like the wuss he apparently is.

If this administration doesn't qualify for contempt of congress, what administration possibly could?

God, this is seriously demoralizing. Truly the Dems are the lesser of two evils--but still plenty evil.

3. How is that a compromise?
It's a complete sell out and better they save the time and tax money it would take to do it. Unless the plan is to lure him to the Capital and then arrest him - sort of a sting operation.

5. Lure him in and arrest him, LOL
ya like they have the balls to do that. If its not done in the public eye under oath why bother? Anything less just screams loud and clear that they are NOT interested in getting any answers. Doesn't surprise me when I consider that we are 7.5 years into this criminal cabal and the Dem's have consistently looked the other way.

We keep excusing them every time they capitulate and we insist on electing these cowards to office again and again.

Your choice....fascist, or fascist enabler. Either way you get fascism.

He can just come in and tell 'em any bullshit story he wants and if when it turns out that he lied to them, he can't be charged with perjury. He has every reason not to tell the truth, which is exactly why he needs to be under oath! How do they not get that?

28. Lying to Congress would still be a federal offense, I believe.
Maybe they just want to get him on record to go after him after Bush is gone so that he can't preemptively pardon him. They may just be collectign as much evidence as they can for a later prosecution.

45. In the mean time
they all wander around their respective chamber patting each other on their worthless asses telling themselves what a great job they are doing of representing their constituents. That's the part that really pisses me off, self aggrandizement while being totally useless to We The People that pay their salaries.

48. Until it happens
It's hard to know of what value such a interview would be. Clearly it allows Rove a chance to lie and evade without record. It also would allow him to rat out whoever he wants without fear of knowledge he's sold out someone. Given Rove we expect the former.
