Right, that is accountability.

Congress office sides with Boeing in tanker jet fight with Northrop Grumman

In a highly unusual move, the Government Accountability Office Wednesday overturned an Air Force decision awarding Northrop Grumman Corp a $35 billion contract to build new aerial re-fueling airplane over Boeing Co.

The office recommended the service give Boeing another shot at the deal.

The contract means not only multi-billions of dollars to the winner, but thousands of jobs as well. Northrop Grumman said some engineering jobs related to the tanker contract would be located in Bethpage, where the Los Angeles-based company has a major facility.

The competition between Northrop Grumman and Boeing for the huge contract was one of the most hotly-contested in years, and when Northrop Grumman unexpected won on February 29, Boeing almost immediately challenged the Air Force decision. Boeing said the Air Force skewed the competition unfairly.
