1. You're presuming he's already President
He's not, nor is he in charge of the other idiots in Congress.

2. He is our party's leader, his silence is deafening.
Why has he not been contacting House and Senate Democrats to defeat this abomination?

3. Still in the "hate Obama Im for Hillary" mode, arent you?
You need to get over it.

5. so, asking a legitimate question is hating him? you know, people are allowed to question
the actions or non-actions of their elected officials, no matter who they are, without being accused of hating them. maybe YOU need to get over the view of obama as being so far above us all that we cannot question anything he does or doesn't do.

11. Thank you, especially with this bill going against Democratic fundamentals.

10. A little touchy, it seems.
Congress is poised to pass a most vile bill, and I feel it is a good question to ask of our party's leader.

4. exactly. one would think, given the almost god-like talents some people seem to think
he posseses, that he could use his powers of persuasion to stop some of the insanity within the party, at least.

is he even in DC right now?

9. He has a better chance to do it NOW than when he's President!
Presidents aren't "in charge of the other idiots in Congress" -- separation of powers, remember? This is a piece of legislation. Right now Barack Obama is both a senator AND the leader of the Democratic Party. If he gives the signal, this bill can be killed. If he doesn't -- even if he himself votes against it but doesn't signal that it's a vital issue to him -- then we've learned something bad about him.

6. Even better
is there some cognizance that a potential to bug the party regarding the upcoming elections can continue under this inert radar? This is all grimly consistent except that the usual rationale is deteriorating so much that silence seems golden by comparison.

The centrist or whatever core leadership backed Obama over Clinton, in effect becoming allied to the campaign(unless you want Obama to really have gone McGovern. Pelosi in effect showed strong leadership in putting down some of Hillary's efforts. This is not payback insofar as they truly believe they are serving Obama's and the next government's interests in clearing the Bush boondoggle off the docket. Legislatively speaking, even if their positive concerns for enacting anything good this term are dubious,
they may have good reason to want to shove aside the continued Bush negativity for rebuilding and facing legislative crises in everything else.

Obama is still feeling his way to assuming leadership over the whole party. I think the signs were pretty clear we were in for some disappointments on the telecoms and impeachment(Edwards had the same easy dismissive attitude). I guess we have to keep reminding ourselves how far we have to go in building our own party toward better goals because no one has done anything strangely out of character except as the Bush vortex has made them appear much worse than their natural shortcomings. THAT they know and that is what they wish to avoid although the Feingolds and Kucinichs scratch their heads at the easy willingness to ride out the trap.

why hasn't Obama brought jobs back?
why hasn't Obama fixed the economy?

etc., etc., etc.......

why don't YOU figure out who is in 'charge' in DC RIGHT NOW??

8. Uh, because it's NOT HIS JOB YET?
You're presuming one hell of a lot, here.

I'm sure he will address the measure in the Senate, where it IS his job.
